"Failed to initialize audio....." - dcdemon - 2010-04-09 Hey everyone. I just reinstalled Ubuntu, and installed xbmc. It runs fine! It detects my Tv Shows and movies with no problems and updates the info online.. I just have a small problem. Whenever I play a movie with DTS sound, first time I run the movie I get no sound and XBMC pops up a message reading something like : "failed to initialize sound, check your audio settings". My settings are : "Digital" then "Default". When I get the error message.. I just jump out of the movie. And restart the movie and then my receiver reads "DTS" and the sound is on. It seems to be a "Handshake" problem with xbmc and my receiver... the funny thing is this was never a problem with the older version of xbmc I was running 2 days ago. Does anyone have a fix for this? - CharlesNasi - 2010-04-10 Are you running Ubuntu Lucid? - User 29008 - 2010-04-10 Ubuntu + Pulse + Alsa is simply a pain in the ass. I don't think it's an xbmc issue. If there would only be a clean and simple way to get rid of pulse and use alsa as default in ubuntu ... I am pretty sure most problems would be solved. boba |
