No, I think you're right to be restrictive and prefer quality logos.
After all, these logos are part of XBMC (or will become it considering the general appreciation: D) and thus owe, from my point of view, being of quality equal or higher than the interface/design of XBMC.

Believe it or not but I also think this. I need a little practice in Photoshop.
Just thought batter make some logos then leave it with nothing. But thinking again maybe it best not having bad logos at all.

With some shows it's impossible to find a good logo and the only solution is to make one from scratch.
However I pretty much stick to the way things are done on thetvdb, better nothing than something subpar.
I personally have about 100 series logos I never released for this exact reason.
Looking back I'm not even happy with some of the ones I did release.
The main thing is that you put the required amount of effort into these as they may become a big thing once thetvdb picks them up.
I don't intend to dissuade potential logo makers just want to keep you all on your toes.

Some of the newer svn builds do, there's mention of this earlier in the thread if I recall.
The latest svn that I've compiled no longer seems to however.
