sonic00 Wrote:Try another download folder instead of the "c/Program Files/XBMC/addons/" ("c/Night/" for example - you have to create this folder by yourself before run the git download)

Than follow the instuctions and see if you have a folder named "skin.night" in c/night/ ...

I just checked and do not have a "skin.night" folder under my install directory, which is C:/program files (x86)/xbmc/addons. Funny thing is, in that folder, the only skin related folder I can see is "skin.confluence", yet I have 3 other skins installed. Huh

Take a look at "C:\Documents and Settings\"user"\Application Data\XBMC\Addons\"

There you should find the 3 other skins ...

Ok but this still doesn't answer my original question as to why Night doesn't show up on my list of installed skins from within XBMC.

C:\Program Files\XBMC\portable_data\addons <<<<<<<<in there.

I just downloaded a copy from git and the addon.xml was missing so that might be the reason why your not seeing it.

morbeas .. the main problem is that in recent svn's there has been a change of where non-default files are to be put .. and that is futher complicated by whether you install using standard mode or portable mode.

i currently put my files where sonic00 said, however i don't have a very recent build and i know since my last setup of XBMC windows started using the portable_data sub dir from program files (still not a fan of this, settings should be in App Data and not program files imho)

anyway, the easiest way to get it loaded and installed and running is via this http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=78301

If you have a dedicated HTPC, portable mode would be more logical since you don't have several user accounts. Just 1 wich isn't even used as a 'user account'. It only exists because you must have a user account.

But wether you are in portable mode or not, the XBMC default skin files is located in XBMC\Addons.
Perhaps a folder containing skin settings is created in your Userdata folder (wich can be in Appdata, in XBMC\Portable_Data\Userdata or (and this is/was a bug) in XBMC\Userdata (this folder you should cut and paste it to your appdata or XBMC\Portable_Data\Userdata folder).

Ok, I have a "skin.night" folder in my "user"/AppData/Roaming/XBMC/addons" folder but I still don't see Night from within XBMC. Sad

I don't think that's where you put it. You need to put it under Prog Files/XBMC/Addons - I think.

But all my other skin folders are there and they work just fine.

Edit: I just copied the "skin.night" folder to "program files (x86)/XBMC/addons" and still no go! This is soo frustrating!

check that you dont have it embedded in two folders Ie skin.night\skin.night
open the skin.night folder and make sure the 720 is first and not skin.night\720

Nope, it looks good.

Any ideas mcborzu? Sad

You could try the other link
maybe you got a bad download from git. Then just put it right next to where you have Confluence stored.

Or maybe 3 posts down you could try "Unofficial Add-on and Repo" from Reginald

- spiff - 2010-08-11

mcborzu; stage is now set for inclusion in main repo. please do the needed change (utilization of the script modules and removal of those from your repo) and send a new pull req Smile

It is right next to where Confluence is as well as appdata but no go.

The link you provided, what exactly do I do with it?

do a windows search for the other skins (not confluence) thats the best way to find where yours are being stored.
