I seem to be having the same problem. Using latest nightly of XBMC and svn T! When I go to show info and get logo, it shows the logos available. When trying to download error message- Unable to download file. What other info would you need? Thanks.

- ppic - 2011-05-09

no, for your problem just read some post before, i've already answered, and i'm pretty sure you'r all using a recent nightly build.

- bobrap - 2011-05-09

OK, so this doesn't work with nightlies? Is that correct?

- ppic - 2011-05-09

yes, with recent nigthly because of external python.

Thanks for your help ppic.

As far as I know there has been no downtime in the last week since moving to the new host, I was on it constantly last night as well, getting the music section live.

Perhaps it's a DNS caching issue? You host must be pretty crap if they have a week old routing information though.

ping fanart.tv, if it returns 72.20.57.193 that is correct.

If it returns 78.129.140.117 then your DNS is cached.

You could also try from the command line: tracert fanart.tv

oK ppic,

Is it possible to make any manual changes to work with versions of git?

Thanks !!

no, as stated before, we don't have what's needed to make it work.

I have had the same problem with downloading logos recently. I also tried following in web browser with the same result.

I followed ppic's advice and did a tracert and found the following:

Code:
tracert fanart.tv

Then I tested access to fanart.tv from a server in the US and I got access Cool . I also tried the link to the API page quoted a few pages back using the US server and received an XML response.

It seems like one of the routers along the way does not return traffic to me when accessing the fanart.tv site. I have bypassed the routing issue by using the server in the US as a proxy for now and this seems to work for me.

Hope this helps someone else.

Whew what a mouthful for my first post!

Same Problemo (MWEB) - misterman - 2011-05-11

I am having the same problem as lappies_in_jhb. sigh, I just use my 3G modem when I want to connect to fanart.tv. it seems to be a problem specific to our ISp, nameley Mweb.

[EDIT]EDIT: I have contacted Mweb Technical suport, and have logged the fault. They have confirmed they have a fault with the routing update for their ADSL service. Shouldn't take to long to fix.... I hope!Big Grin[/EDIT]

Ok, thanks for the tip Kode, that's what I get when i try to ping fanart.tv:

Code:
Ping a démarré…

PING fanart.tv (72.20.57.193): 56 data bytes
Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
Request timeout for icmp_seq 4
Request timeout for icmp_seq 5
Request timeout for icmp_seq 6
Request timeout for icmp_seq 7
Request timeout for icmp_seq 8

--- fanart.tv ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss

I've tried it in Australia and Japan, with several computers getting the same result, so I don't think it's a provider related problem.
Is there a way to bypass the routing issue?

Thanks! Wink

EDIT: Ok, I've tried to acces fanart.tv using a web proxy based in the US and it worked! Got to find a way to make it work from xbmc now...

UP!

- Kode - 2011-05-13

A lot of asia pacific addresses have been blocked due to abuse, by my hosting provider. I will look into setting up an alternative for people affected. The only current alternative I know of is to use a proxy.

- ppic - 2011-05-13

this problem is not addon related, please post on fanart.tv thread.
