- Philmatic - 2010-07-27 Makes sense, when looking at the log it specifically said no crystalhd support. Meh... i upgraded through apt-get, that dpkg command didn't work since I never had the older build. All I had was 31495 so I installed that (sudo dpkg -i xbmc*svn31495*), I'm at work now though so I'll have to wait until I get home. Is there any way to download a specific build through apt-get? - Philmatic - 2010-07-27 Looks like I'm back up with 31495: Code: 09:39:38 T:3043764064 M:187695104 DEBUG: SECTION:LoadDLL(libcrystalhd.so) But we'll see if the BCM70015 treats me well... - MasterOe - 2010-07-27 pin87a Wrote:The SVN PPA builds were failing for the past week or so (which is why ppa users couldn't upgrade past 31718). i have a lot of errors like this during the xbmc update/installation: [WARN 7704] kit-hash.c:206:kit_hash_insert(): key != NULL Not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace [WARN 7704] kit-hash.c:294:kit_hash_lookup(): key != NULL Not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace ... I've always ignored them with no issues. - live4ever - 2010-07-27 Is there some reason after editing com.apple.Boot.plist to /dev/sda3 that this image won't boot when attached to the IDE cable? pin87a's image dd'd to another PATA drive and to 8GB USB key. Scenarios: stock 40GB Apple TV drive ------> boots to ATV OS stock 40GB Apple TV drive + 8GB USB (sdb) ------> boots to Crystalbuntu no IDE connection + PATA drive USB (sda) ------> boots to Crystalbuntu PATA drive (IDE-sda) ------> boots to flashing ? (ATV icon) Thanks for any help. - diegoap - 2010-07-27 Hi.... finally I've recieved my Crystal HD. Tonight I'm going to install Pin87a image (28256-R3) on my apple tv. I'm going to write the image in my pen drive and follow the instructions Any advise, comment or piece of information for a noob like me is welcome Thanks Diego - Stigy - 2010-07-27 diegoap Wrote:Hi.... finally I've recieved my Crystal HD. If you are a noob (like I am with Linux stuff), if you could write down some steps as you go along that would be AWESOME. Unless there already is a tutorial for this and I am just missing it. Thanks in advance! - diegoap - 2010-07-27 defiler wrote something a few weeks ago.... I'm going to follow his instructions. http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=566887&postcount=624 I'm going to write each step in order help people like me - Stigy - 2010-07-27 diegoap Wrote:defiler wrote something a few weeks ago.... I am assuming this leaves the aTV OS perfectly in-tact on the internal drive and can be run by booting without the USB drive in the appleTV? - diegoap - 2010-07-27 Stigy Wrote:Awesome awesome -- so you are going to boot from a USB drive all the time? I don't know.... if the image works, I might erase everything on the drive and write the image there.... do you think this is a bad idea ? - Stigy - 2010-07-27 diegoap Wrote:I don't know.... if the image works, I might erase everything on the drive and write the image there.... do you think this is a bad idea ? Well from doing my research it seems that you can create a backup of the hard drive, BUT what I might do is order the CF adapter and throw a CF card in there to run the OS from so I don't have to worry about the internal HDD at all. - diegoap - 2010-07-27 Stigy Wrote:Well from doing my research it seems that you can create a backup of the hard drive, BUT what I might do is order the CF adapter and throw a CF card in there to run the OS from so I don't have to worry about the internal HDD at all. I'm feeling a little idiot... but.... what is CF ?? - Stigy - 2010-07-27 diegoap Wrote:I'm feeling a little idiot... but.... what is CF ?? CompactFlash (like the memory card for some cameras). Just some thoughts running through my head at the moment. I am sure some of the experts can chime in with their opinions & feedback though. - diegoap - 2010-07-27 Stigy Wrote:CompactFlash (like the memory card for some cameras). lol.... ok.... I know what it is I didn't realize CF was CompactFlash oh... yes... I need experts comments.... I don't want to "brick" my aTV tonight o.O - Philmatic - 2010-07-27 Running the thumbdrive will keep your internal HD and AppleTV OS completely untouched. Copying the image to your internal drive DOES make things a bit faster and negates the need for a th1umbdrive sticking out of the Apple TV like, well, you know, a sore thumb? It's EXTREMELY recommended that you make a backup of the internal ATV OS drive if you plan on copying the Crystalbuntu image to it. If you want to update your XBMC and CrystalHD drivers/library, it's recommended that you keep tabs on this thread. That way you'd know that CrystalHD support was disabled a few builds back, so it's not advisable to update XBMC at this time. |
