TeknoJnky Wrote:Ok, heres what I have done.

installed sam's crystalbuntu image to appletv internal 160g drive

tested crystalhd working

sudo apt-get remove xbmc*

fixed apt source lists, removed old ppa's and added the current

sudo apt-get install xbmc

tested same file, crystalhd not working, high cpu

compiled crystalhd (157) stuff as @ http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO_install_a_Miminal_Ubuntu_and_XBMC_with_sound_over_HDMI_on_the_AppleTV

rebooted

retested same file, no crystalhd working, low cpu

checked video options, crystalhd and vdpau both enabled, tried disabling vdpau and/or crystalhd, no changes no working

banged head against wall

log @ http://pastebin.com/Ef2ajxLx

dmesg @ http://pastebin.com/w3F5fApi

any insight appreciated

Hello,

How have you installed The image on internal dd ? i'm looking for help for install.
I did not find a tutorial. I put the disk image on a USB drive but I can not even ssh to return it to the update.
You have kept the two systems?

thank you very much

Let's try some simple 720p h264 mvks before tossing a 1080p vc1 at it Smile

Ugh, I don't think I have any 720p, and the same 1080vc1 was working on the original sams image, and the 9+ month old installation I had before I tried sams.

I'm using a fresh pin87a img on a high speed USB stick and every now and then the video will pause to buffer. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Some info:
- Happens with SD and HD content
- Seems to happen randomly
- AppleTV is connected through ethernet
- Files are off of computer sharing through SMB to AppleTV

I had previously updated XBMC to Dharma and CrystalHD to 157 and still had buffering issues.

Appreciate any tips!

Crystalbuntu and Python Scripts - MasterOe - 2010-09-09

I would like to use a python script i found in the net for incomming calls, a Call Monitor, --> http://www.freevdr.de/forum/index.php?topic=357.0 ,
but i did not find a way how to run it.

in the add-ons directory i only could install add-ons from a zip file...
i did not find a way to install the python script or to start it...

I've done that differently by using GUI gparted and simply resizing the linux partion.
The only tricky part was to run a command line tool (parted or fsck, don't remember) to fix a file system problem of the original image.

install on USB hard drive partition? - missingastring - 2010-09-10

I have a 1TB usb hard drive connected to the atv, which holds all my media. The drive is formatted into two partitions, 800ish GB mac os extended and 100GB FAT32.

Could I reformat the FAT partition and install the linux distro in this space?

My linux experience is very limited, but I can usually kludge my way through this type of thing if it's doable.

download a ssh client (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/)

host address : your apple tv address
port : 22 (connection type SSH)

username : xbmc
pass : xbmc

if you need "su" the password is...... "xbmc" Smile

that's the way I connect through ssh on pin78's image

good luck
diego

I am having similar problem. Running Pin's image (ATV Linux, r28256, crystalhd v26) I was able to play a 720p ([email protected] Profile) video perfectly. I I just upgraded to SVN 33324 and crystalhd r156 and playing the same video results in severe stuttering. Other HD content plays fine. Problem video details below::

Video
ID : 0
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : [email protected]
Format settings, CABAC : Yes
Format settings, ReFrames : 2 frames
Codec ID : H264
Duration : 4mn 14s
Bit rate : 3 789 Kbps
Width : 1 280 pixels
Height : 720 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate : 30.000 fps
Resolution : 8 bits
Colorimetry : 4:2:0
Scan type : Progressive
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.137
Stream size : 115 MiB (92%)

Other than that crystalhd is awesome! Do you need any additional information to help diagnose?

- davilla - 2010-09-10

Some [email protected] will not play correctly. The bcm70012 does not officially support L5.1 but my tests show that some will play ok, some will not. The bcm70015 is much better at handling [email protected].

no one an idea?

Thank you for your help, I do not log onto the correct ip in fact. I have everything updated by cons now I want to launch a video, I have a black screen.
