fanart, thumbnails for muscians & filenames - Belgrath - 2010-06-04

Hi all,

New XBMC user here and lovin' it.

I have a question with regards to the thumbs and fanart. These are located in the userdata folders however I'm not sure how XBMC goes about creating a name for them and now its associated in the music database. If I were to batch download many arts and thumbs do I need to add them manually to the database, or is there an easier way by just placing the files into a directory and voila. I'm guessing that I need to do this manually, or I need to do this via a media manager so that the XBMC knows where to look to find the pics.

I also read a threat that talked about managing your music library as:
\Artist1\
\Artist1\AlbumA\
\Artist1\AlbumB\
\Artist1\AlbumC\
\Artist1\folder.jpg
\Artist1\fanart.jpg

I do have my library organized as such, does this mean that XBMC will suck in folder.jpg as the thumbnail for that artist and fanart.jpg as the fanart for that artist. If that's the case this would probably work quite well for me. I wouldn't need to create the XBMC on each of my clients as each client would rebuild the pics directly from my storage folders.

Thanks ahead of time,
Belg

Put the file as fanart.jpg in the artist folder. (Note, requires artist/album folder setup).

a couple of questions.

- How about the files that XBMC has already scraped for me, is there a way of pulling them out of the xbmc folders and into my artist folders automagically?

- If I place a file into the artist folder will it take priority over the one(s) that XBMC has scraped for me. In otherwords folder art > XBMC/userdata/fanart

- Same question as previous but for artist files.

Many thanks ahead of time,
Belg

Sweet. Testing to see if I can bring it one level farther and have a fanart.jpg on a per album basis. I don't think that I can, perhaps an fanart01.jpg fanart02.jpg in the artist folder?

Know of any stand alone programs that does the same thing? I'm not rolling with any Windows MC atm.
