RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - ghart999 - 2012-10-17

I can't get XBMC to be the active window when I click the GSB.

I have used these scripts before but had to reinstall windows and start over. I know I must've used an older version before.

I use the AllinOne script and the Win64bit_1_06 scripts. This is on Win 7 64bit Home Premium. I have the Mediagate RC6 remote. Eden 11.0.

Again everything works correctly once I manually make XBMC the active window via the mouse. Also when I close out of xbmc and ten come back in, the window becomes the active window no problem. The problem is each time I reboot, the problem occurs.

Any ideas?

Great work but there are some things that I don't understand.

My ReportMappingTable looks very messy compared to the one in your tutorial:

"ReportMappingTable"=hex:00,00,00,00,04,00,27,01,00,00,00,04,00,1e,02,00,00,00,\

Also I don't understand why you need to change 3 sets of bytes if you want to change the function of a button.
I mean, you need to change from IR code to keystroke, which is one set of bytes. Then you need to change the function of the button, which is another set of bytes. What's the use of the third set?

I'm sorry for asking these stupid questions. I'm a complete noob.

Many thanks for your help!

I would like to assign the 'sleep' command to the Record key on my remote.

I downloaded Config_Win7.v1.41.reg and edited following line but it doesn't work.

65,00,00,00,03,82,00,\ ; [record] - Button on Microsoft's Remote model 1039, Sends "Sleep"

What did I miss?

Hello,

I have a problem, and I was hoping someone might be able to help. The problem I am having is with the green start button. The green start button does everything except return XBMC to the main menu. I can also do everything with a Right <ctrl><alt><return> on the keyboard, but not with a Left <ctrl><alt><return>.
The different senarios are as follows:

XBMC is off
+ Green start button starts XBMC
+ I can also start XBMC with left or right <ctrl><alt><return>

XBMC is windowed for some reason
+ Green start button makes XBMC full screen
+ I can also full screen XBMC with left or right <ctrl><alt><return>

XBMC is running full screen and is not on main menu
+ The green start button does nothing
+ Right <ctrl><alt><return> returns XBMC to main menum but Left <ctrl><alt><return> does not

Any help is appreciated.

Jim

My configuration is as follows:
- HP Probook 6550b
- Windows 7 Professional - Service Pack 1 - 64 bit (WoW) - Build 7601
- Rosewill - RHRC11001 - Says is certified for Vista and compatible with Windows 7
- USB Remote - Came with remote
- There is no built in reciever.
- Reciever is listed in registry as: 745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da
- I have not tried any other software.
- I used Auto installer method. which says it includes: I- Config.reg v1.41, Keyboard.xml v2.00, and GSB script All in one v2.38.
- XBMC Version is: 11.0 "Eden" - Skin is Confluence

EG,
I'm back! I have a fresh install of Win8 and XBMC and ran XBMCCustomregis v2.60.12 and eventually (not sure why not straight away - even after numerous reboots) the remote started working.
Everything! GSB opens XBMC and goes back to the home screen if I'm in a submenu.
One change I would like to make and have made changes to the reg file in the past myself, is to have the power button of my remote hibernate/standby the machine and move the contextual menu (I think that's what it's bound to) to be the button opposite the power button.

http://i.imgur.com/RkwF2.png

So make the top right button (labled PowerToggle) put the machine into standby mode and power it back up.
And make the Aspect button the contextual menu

Many Thanks as always.

Hi fellas. The v2.38 script does nothing at all here. I never tried it on Win7, but I can not get it to work under Win8. The old v1.06 script does work thou, but I'd like to try the new one. Any ideas? Oh, the install path is custom, but I already tried to change it in the script.

The remote are working perfectly as per my preference, but the green button does zilch.

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - TheFonz - 2012-11-06

O.M.G.
I am so annoyed!
Somehow, something stops the GSB from going back to the main XBMC window. I spent 60 minutes uninstalling and reinstalling everything related to the remote, AHK, registry entries to no avail.
I have no idea what is going on, is it possible that once inside XBMC the GSB stops mapping to CTRL+ALT+ENTER?
So basically the GSB worked for 1 week. weird. very weird. It maybe be related to my Asrock remote, though I can't understand why!

From the Remote Wiki:

"NOTE: Some Asrock ION330HT ship with a Nuvoton W836x7HG CIR Device Driver with is not RC6 compatible. In this case the Windows registry fix for the ehome driver will not work."

After reading through the whole thread searching for the term W836x7HG I determined I will unplug the in-built IR and have bought a HP USB IR.

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - junon - 2012-11-08

Okay, I'm rebuilding my home theater pc setup and I've decided to go with XBMC. Everything has been going great, and the MCE remote control setup hasn't actually been THAT bad... but then I found these scripts and I thought that it would solve all my problems easy peasy. They appeared to be working just fine on my windows 7 laptop that I was using to test. The problem is that my new HTPC that I've built is a windows 8 64bit machine, which I assumed would be fine, but isn't working as smoothly.

So, in an effort to try and parse this down to the most basic that I can, here is my current setup that I'm using to try and test this:

Fresh windows 8 install
modified keymappingtable so that the green button is mapped to the F13 key
Autohotkey installed
XBMC 11 with the MCEremote installed but disabled (was using that before and was working fine, but I couldn't figure out how to map a ctrl+alt+F5 for a return to home keypress)

So, I made a SUPER basic AHK script to just verify that keypresses I think are getting passed, are getting passed. I also enabled #InstallKeybdHook so that I could review it.

This is the script, super easy!
F13 UP::
send, !^{F5}

#InstallKeybdHook
return

F1::KeyHistory

So, when I hit the green button, it hits an F13 and I get this in the AHK history:

7C 064 s d 21.72 F13
7C 064 h u 0.13 F13
A4 038 i d 0.09 LAlt
A2 01D i d 0.00 LControl
74 03F i d 0.00 F5
74 03F i u 0.00 F5
A4 038 i u 0.02 LAlt
A2 01D i u 0.00 LControl
74 03F d 0.42 F5

Which appears to be perfect! I wasn't using the UP modifier before and it was holding down F13 and all the other buttons and then released them all at the same time. I thought that was the problem, so I tried UP but it didn't solve it.

The problem is that when I'm actually in XBMC... the green button doesn't bring me back to the XBMC home page. While a manual press of the ctrl+alt+F5 brings me right there. I know that it's TECHNICALLY working, because if I remap the green button to alt+F4, it DOES close apps, BUT NOT XBMC!!

What am I missing here, and is it the key to why your super script isn't working in windows 8?

Anyway, thanks for any help. I know entirely too much about how windows handles keypresses now.

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - junon - 2012-11-08

Okay, after doing some investigating... I've determined that the problem is 100% caused by running XBMC in XP sp3 compatibility mode. This was necessitated by the ATI drivers I was running making the text in XBMC and Plex go all crazy. As soon as I turned it off though, all the key commands were executed just fine by the remote in XBMC.

I'm having the same issue. If XBMCCustomregis is uninstalled, my sleep works fine. Once it's installed the Power menu shows up. Is there a way to have the original functionality of the power toggle with Customregis?

I like the power button on the remote to sleep XBMC and not go to the shutdown menu.

How can I change this in windows8 Huh

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - calev - 2012-11-19

Sorry if this has been asked before, but i could not find it. Im using windows 8 and i want the green button to send me to the startmenu. This way i could access other apps with the remote. Netflix is suppose to add support for the mce remote in their new app soon. Is there a way to do this? thanks

RE: [WINDOWS] HOW-TO use MCE remote in XBMC under Windows the easy way - juston - 2012-11-23

Hi All,
I believe that there is a bug on line 51 of the GSB_Script_AllinOne.ahk version 2.38 script.

I believe that Line 51:
send, ^!{VK74} ; if XBMC is Active (GSB Home Jump will activate)

Should be:
send ^!{Enter} ; if XBMC is Active (GSB Home Jump will activate)

NOTE: no comma after "send" and {VK74} changed to {Enter}

This line is supposed to send the "Green Start Button" (GSB) key sequence, but only after the script has determined that XBMC is running and that it is in full screen. If both of those conditions are met, then the GSB sequence is sent.

If you use the tool (can't remember what it's called) that identifies what key is pressed on your remote, you find that for a Microsoft compliant MCE Remote, the GSB button sends the CTRL-ALT-ENTER sequence (<return mod="ctrl,alt"></return>).

AutoHotKey sends key press sequences with the send command. The "^" corresponds to CTRL, the "!" corresponds to ALT and {Enter} corresponds to enter.

I found that the 2.38 script would correctly load XBMC if it wasn't loaded. It would correctly maximise XBMC if it was windowed, but any subsequent presses of the GSB would do nothing.

After reading the script I can only determine that the culprit is the "send, ^!{VK74}" sequence. I don't know what {VK74} corresponds to, but I found that if I changed this bit to "send ^!{Enter}" then each press of the GSB would return me to the Home screen.

If you use Keyboard.xml v2.00 you may need to add <return mod="ctrl,alt">XBMC.ActivateWindow(Home)</return> into the <global><keyboard></keyboard></global> section.

Hope that helps someone who had the same issue as me.
