@gnif: Actually, I did report to you a similar problem a while ago with a mono FLV at 22Khz. Git/master of XBMC had no issue with it but AE just crashed on it. To be more specific, it does when HDMI device is used, it works perfectly fine if tried in Analog mode (like on my laptop), I am guessing due to resampling. I tried as well on ArtVandelae fork, same issue.

Now this won't make me lose sleep over it, I very rarely run mono files. I am more concerned about the PCM/FLAC 5.1+ replay after one played a passthrough track Wink. Yet again... this is a tryout branch, kind of expect bugs.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Hey gnif,

gnif Wrote:@liquidskin76 - Low audio is because you are down-mixing to 2.0 and do not have boost volume levels enabled, proper down-mixing will always reduce volume levels, the boost is a hack to disable normalization, there is no way around this, its a technical limitation of your sound system only having 2 speakers.

Before posting a crash report, test first in the stable branch, if it crashes there also AE is not your problem.

I'm not downmixing. I'm running a 5.1 av receiver setup.

With my 5.1/7.1 flac files and 1ch pcm files, they all play fine in 10/10.1/nightlies. Hence why i'm trying to help out here! I wouldn't be bothering you guys if they didn't play in a stable branch! Wink

gnif Wrote:As for 1ch pcm, looks unrelated, avcodec errors, etc.

Don't understand. See above...

gnif Wrote:Debug logs are pretty useless without a stack trace at this point, we need to know WHERE the program crashed to debug it. If you cant or dont know how to provide a stack trace, you need to post a sample of the file that crashed the media center, your audio settings (including output device) so that we can try to replicate the problem and generate a stack trace our selfs.

Sure, of course. I'll sort a small sample and upload asap. I'll pm you the download link.

Keep up the great work.

Cheers

Linux + Alsa (master @ 100, PCM @ 100) + analog output: I've trouble with volume. The first step from mute seems to be too high, this not happen if I set xbmc volume to 100% and then from alsamixer I set volume to "1". I hope I was clear...

liquidskin76 Wrote:With 5.1/7.1 flac files i get very very low audio, with volume bar not working so unable to turn up... http://pastebin.com/GuJvbEQd

Hey gnif/ArtVandelae,

With flac files (and other non passthrough audio i guess) on the latest Win build, this is as far as the volume bar turns up for me...

Cheers

[EDIT:] Ahhh... ok, managed to turn the volume up via the standard key mapping. So it's just the volume bar on the video controls that's not working. Sorry guys, a bit of a red herring that one! Hopefully an easy one for you to solve. Cheers

Hi All,

i've bought a Zotac Zone GT430 for test the new HD passthrogh functionality on XBMC, but i've some problems and i hope you can help me.

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 with the latest snapshot alsa drivers (taken from here http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/tiwai/snapshot/). I've tested the bitstreaming functionality outside XBMC as indicated on http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=157347, and all works good, my Onkyo TX-SR308 recognize correctly both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD tracks.

Now there are the problems using XBMC Blush :

- If i use the PVR XBMC trunk (this trunk don't have the new Audio Engine on board), audio works good, both for stereo and Dolby/DTS audio tracks
- If i use the new AE branch, i cannot hear any audio. When i play any video, it is played 2x or 3x faster and i've no audio on my speakers

My audio device is on hw:1,9 and i set up it in the Audio settings of XBMC (the same settings works on the PVR branch).

May be i'm wrong on something.......
I Hope someone can help me.......

Thanks and Goodnight!
Davide

i think you should just wait until things are more stable

@EMK0 - I dont, we need debug reports to track down these issues before the code is merged into master.

@dado483 - Can you please post your log.

- EMK0 - 2011-05-09

ok then i will also go and test i have a GT430

ArtVandelae, this version don´t work for me, in special, volume control in music, music start ok (audio is down), press + result in nothing, the volume bar don´t appears, and start mp3 movies crash my xbmc, running in win7 64 bits, only the previous versions work fine for me. Oo

Mine doesn't crash when playing movies with mp3 sound but the audio sounds all distorted. This is via HDMI on GT440 in win 7 64bit. Other audio formats & xbmc navigation sounds seem to work fine.

Audio setup as exclusive mode. Will need to check if miss match between xbmc & win speaker setup (assuming it matters). Also will check if changing number of speakers on xbmc to stereo (ie as encoded in mp3) makes a difference.

I tested again the last version, and now work fine, i don´t change nothing, only reboot my computer, with receiver ON, running xbmc and no more errors. Nod

Mp3 audio definitely doesn't work for me in audio engine and reboot didn't help just comes out garbled. Tried changing bit rate and speaker configuration in windows audio setting etc but the didn't make a difference. Changing the audio settings in xbmc so that it sends mp3 as DD instead lpcm doesn't make a difference either. Still comes out garbled. Using 10.1 stable version everything is fine.

Alright, new test build. There was a tiny unsigned int wrapping bug in the stream code that took forever to track down because when it occurred the whole playback pipeline would get backed up and cause buffer overflows and error messages everywhere but where the problem actually was. The good news is that the resampler should now work perfectly. I've tried several clips that used to crash and they all work perfectly.

Have at it: http://www.multiupload.com/LQT1YGSKPM

Hi ArtVandelae,

Cool, that fixed my crash with 1ch aac files (iphone recordings)!

Bring on DTS-HD guys! Wink
