[LINUX] Cannot get Web Server to Work =[ - SteveDhalai - 2010-08-10

Hey,

I'm trying to get Web Server to work so I can use XBMC Remote for Android and also use a media manager.

I've tried several times to get this to work, I enable and disable the setting and try and access:
localhost:8080
192.168.1.0:8080
192.168.1.66:8080 (my internal ip)

And I get nothing "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to localhost".

I've tried changing the port and adding a password.

Today I tried uninstalling XBMC. I did a complete uninstallation and then reinstalled using this method http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=577378&postcount=4

It has installed a newer version of xbmc to what I had (there's a new "add on" feature and the start up graphic is different) but I STILL can't get the webserver to work.

Any help? :confused2:

Thanks.
Steve.

Come on guys... No replies at all? No

I've tried searching... for quite a while, on here, on ubuntu forums and on google.

Have you enabled it?
Whats your debug saying?

Thanks for the reply.

I managed to get it to work, I didn't realise you had to have XBMC running for the webserver to work.

Is there any way to get it to run in the background? Without the application being open?
