Themes and colors are included into Alaska Revisited skin.

Ok... if your are not able to use the browse function of XBMC, you can always create your launcher manually directly by creating and editing the launchers.xml file. I may work. Here is an empty template for a stand-alone launcher.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?>
<launchers>
    <launcher>
        <id></id>
        <name></name>
        <application></application>
        <args></args>
        <rompath></rompath>
        <thumbpath></thumbpath>
        <fanartpath></fanartpath>
        <extrafanartpath></extrafanartpath>
        <romext></romext>
        <platform></platform>
        <thumb></thumb>
        <fanart></fanart>
        <genre></genre>
        <release></release>
        <publisher></publisher>
        <launcherplot></launcherplot>
        <minimize></minimize>
        <lnk></lnk>
        <roms>
        </roms>
    </launcher>
</launchers>
Now, my question : Why are you using ubuntu 8.04 on your ATV system? It is a 3 years old distribution. Why not use a more recent or light distribution?

This might be an idiot question, but what am I doing wrong if no roms show up? I have selected the correct path to the emulator and the roms.

After you select the right paths to emulator and roms you will have to select the "Add items" option to scan the roms path and add new roms. You also have to activate de data/thumbs and fanarts scrapers if you want to retrieve the games information.

Angelscry Wrote:This version of Advanced Launcher bring a new option for information data scraping. You have now the possibility to use the item filename as title instead of the returned scrapped title ("Ignore Scrapped Title" option). This option is useful for example when you have several time the same item but into different version (country, bootleg, etc...). Also "Clean items titles" and "Titles Formating" options still active when the "Ignore Scrapped Title" option is activated.

Example :
If your item filename is : The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past (U) [!].smc
And the returned scrapped title is : The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past [Player's Choice]

With Ignore Title : OFF
  • Clean title : OFF, Format Title : OFF -> The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past [Player's Choice]
  • Clean title : ON, Format Title : OFF -> The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past
  • Clean title : OFF, Format Title : ON -> Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past [Player's Choice], The
  • Clean title : ON, Format Title : ON -> Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past, The

With Ignore Title : ON
  • Clean title : OFF, Format Title : OFF -> The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past (U) [!]
  • Clean title : ON, Format Title : OFF -> The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past
  • Clean title : OFF, Format Title : ON -> Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past, The
  • Clean title : ON, Format Title : ON -> Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past (U) [!], The

This version of Advanced Launcher bring also a minor bug fix and the german translation update.

ChangeLog:
  • Add an option to use filename as title when scraping.
  • Fix text display for search by release dates.
  • Update german translation (thanks to mandark).

Thank you so much for this. A welcome update for the tool IMHO.

Cheers,
Maarten

Hello Angel,

I'm afraid I have to say the new feature doesn't seem to be working correctly.

Let me explain my situation here.

I have a directory with my NO INTRO romset. Another directory containing the thumbs and the fan art. I import the roms in ALA, the screenshots are grabbed locally. Only the game info is grabbed online from gamefaq. When I create a new launcher and import the list the way I describe above, the filenames are overwritten again with the names of the online info site.
I tried this 3 times, it doesn't work.

However, it does work when I manually add a title, link my local screenshots to it and manually modify the game info from gamefaqs. Than it seems to work and the title is preserved.

Could you have a look and let me know if you can simulate the bug?

Thanks,
Maarten

Ok... I will check. Maybe there is a bug with the automatic scrapping.

Windows Kega Fusion Problem Fixed - thecresta - 2011-05-23

Hi All,

I was getting the "DirectDraw init error: #2" error starting Fusion using Advanced Launcher, until I did the following:

* Right-click Fusion.exe, select Properties.
* Click on the Compatibility tab
* Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2").

And it started working properly, without the error message - no need for pskill any more!

I also use a simple batch file to get it to maximise XBMC after closing the emulator:

Fusion.exe %1
nircmd win max process XBMC.exe

Hope this helps someone!

Hi thecresta ! thank you, I could not test, but it may be an alternative (at least for the error DirectDraw).

you have to use a script now? bah.

theres no good reason that XBMC should continue running if youre launching an external app

- illiac4 - 2011-05-23

This is log file from ATV where i'm having problems to browse for scrips. It looks that the launcher does not create any setting for Launcher.

No there is. If you want, for example, to start an external application into background. Wink

Thank you for this information. I never though that DirectDraw problems could be linked to windows application compatibility under Windws 7. Thank you ver much.

According to your xbmc.log file the launchers.xml file will be located into "/root/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.advanced.launcher/" directory. Does the user of XBMC have the rights to read/write into this directory?

Also there is the "ERROR: GetDirectory - Error getting plugin://". Which version of XBMC are you using?
