With such people we'll never get better to help out other users that maybe have to fight with the same problem.

I have had a look at the guide but hope you dont mind me asking, I presume this allows you to store the games much like the movies, and you then select them, I have xbox 360 which I have hardly used would it be possible to download the games and use your programme to play them?? I have a newer mac mini. Paul

Hello...running the newest version of Advanced Launcher. When Scanning for new games I keep getting the Script Failure addon.py error.

you know, it's not a nice way to talk with someone you don't know, who face a problem he don't know (and he's still learning).
If you call it crap, than it's your carp as well.
And maybe it's just showing the fact that table (of compabilty with ALA) should be more clear and be shown to every one who download ALA...
it's not that clear... especially for beginners...
(i didn't see it, and i've searched)
so "crap" it's maybe the work of the one who designed the "help section"

Version 1.5.3 - Angelscry - 2011-08-25
Version 1.5.3 : This new version of Advanced Launcher mainly fix the GameFAQs data and thumbs scrappers. After a recent update on the GameFAQs website, these scrappers were not anymore able to retrieve game result list and save selected thumbnail images. This is now corrected. This version also bring a small string fix for the French translation.
Changelog :
- fix gamefaqs data scrappers.
- fix gamefaqs thumbs scrappers.

i have a very important question now i can add exe as a standalone launcher but
why wont advanced launcher see my game shortcuts what can i do , i want to add a shortcut as standalone launcher too not just exe since some shortcuts got specific commands in theyre properties , help!!!!

woot thanks , yeah cause why would you only implement exe file support and batch files
when most and more than exe files windows uses shortcuts , for everything xD, thanks in advance cant wait , thank you very much once again
p.s: keep up the good work advanced launcher is my favourite launcher yet all we need is a way for it to scan a games folder and auto add the games as standalone launchers and perhaps a windows pc category since all we have atm is ibm pc whatever xD, and autoscrape added launchers so we dont have to manually add thumbnails , artwork , info etc

Most of the .exe and .bat files support command line with arguments but not .lnk files. Shortcut .lnk files are not a necessity to start applications, they are just here to ease you to start applications. So create a launcher to start a shortcut to start an application is not the natural way to do.

I did not see the interest to scan the windows Program Files folders to add all .exe applications. Because there is no way to make difference between game and other executable files.
IBM PC games = DOS games + Windows games. Launchers are categorized by platform (SNES, Playstation, IBM PC, etc...).
You can already auto-scrape info, thumbnails and artworks for files launchers during scan. You just need to activate "Import during scan" option into Advanced Launcher settings : http://www.gwenael.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=5#p5.
If you plain to use Advanced Launcher to start several similar group of items (pdf, roms, windows games, etc..) the best way to use files launcher feature. Stand alone launchers may be use only for unique applications.

Into the creation of a files launcher process, you are asked first to select the application and then later the files extension. But there is no way to guess that you want to create a .lnk launcher before you indicate it. That's why you need to indicate an application, even if this one will not be used at all.
