- Knut Anderson - 2012-01-24 Hmm, i think it had to do with the images already being there, although i tried erasing all of them (for a certain emulator) for testing that scenario, dont know how it worked out though, if i acted logically at that moment i would have retried that scenario again for other emulators if it worked after erasing the thumbs and art, but i cant remember exactly. Maybe the caching wasnt working properly too, i added a GBA emulator and at first it didnt show 98% of the pictures (just two) and today all the thumbs and art was working. Anyway, i've set the configuration to overwrite, and i've had no problem all evening. The emulator thing is kinda my pride and joy and it sucked that i couldnt get it to work so thanks for your help! - Angelscry - 2012-01-24 Knut Anderson Wrote:Hmm, i think it had to do with the images already being there, although i tried erasing all of them (for a certain emulator) for testing that scenario, dont know how it worked out though, if i acted logically at that moment i would have retried that scenario again for other emulators if it worked after erasing the thumbs and art, but i cant remember exactly. XBMC cached files will not be immediatly updated. If you want thumb and fanart images to be updated into XBMC you must do it FROM Advanced Launcher. - Muyfa666 - 2012-01-25 @Angelscry: I have this game that needs explorer.exe to shut down when it's played because of color distortion. I want to have a shortcut in XBMC for it. Like: 1. Kill explorer.exe (windows explorer, not internet explorer) 2. Start game.exe 3. Restart explorer.exe after game.exe exits Can it even be done at all? - Angelscry - 2012-01-25 Muyfa666 Wrote:@Angelscry:It is possible to do this by creating and use a launcher script that will kill explorer before start your game and then restore explorer after the game will be closed. Do to this, you will first need to download and install the Autoit freeware on a computer (not necessary the computer where XBMC is installed). AutoIt is a BASIC-like scripting language designed for automating the Windows GUI and general scripting. It uses a combination of simulated keystrokes, mouse movement and window/control manipulation in order to automate tasks in a way not possible or reliable with other languages. You need first to create an Autoit script like this one : Code: Run ( "taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe" ) Finally, into Advanced Launcher, you just have to change the game.exe application by game-launcher.exe. - Aubrien - 2012-01-25 Hello XBMC forum as this is my first post. I have been using XBMC since its days on XBOX and this is actually my first time to where I felt like I had something to contribute worth posting. I run XBMC in Ubuntu and I use LIRC to map a remote for controlling XBMC. I use Advanced Launcher to launch Firefox from where I have the arrow keys on my remote acting as a mouse and I use a keyboard for character input. I have an issue where XBMC will queue up my LIRC input while in Firefox and when I return to XBMC, every key i pressed will be entered in rapid succession making XBMC go crazy. I have Firefox launched by Advanced Launcher with a script as follows... Code: #!/bin/bash The above will pause the XBMC thread, execute Firefox, and resume XBMC upon exit of Firefox. This works great for my joypad (XBox360 user space driver), but I noticed that for the case of LIRC however, the remote input still queues up and I get spammed with remote button presses when I return from Firefox. I just wanted to share my solution to the issue, in hope that maybe it can be incorporated into a future release of the plugin or maybe it will just be useful to someone else. I simply modify the launcher_plugin.py file and I locate the lines... Code: elif (sys.platform.startswith('linux')): and I wrap it with code to stop and restart LIRC... Code: elif (sys.platform.startswith('linux')): This works flawlessly...until the next addon update, at which time I have to apply the modifications once again. - Angelscry - 2012-01-25 Thank you very much Aubrien for the xbmc.executebuiltin('LIRC.stop') codeline. That's efectively a more easy way to disable the LIRC inputs into XBMC while using an external applications. I will test it, and surely add it into the next release. Thank you very much. - fidoboy - 2012-01-25 Angelscry Wrote:I'm sorry. I'm not able to reproduce your problem of my different systems. If there is a bug, it may occurs after specific actions order or with specific files, paths. So... please... could you post here the content of your launchers.xml file and also give me the more possible information about your : I'm trying to launch the OnLive app, i'm using this addon to launch Windows executables, not roms or emulators, so i don't need fanarts or thumbs (i suggest to make easy options for users that don't use emulators and fanarts, because right now is a bit confusing). When i launch the app, XBMC is not being hidden or minimized, so the app runs in background and i can't see it. regards, - Angelscry - 2012-01-25 fidoboy Wrote:I'm trying to launch the OnLive app, i'm using this addon to launch Windows executables, not roms or emulators, so i don't need fanarts or thumbs (i suggest to make easy options for users that don't use emulators and fanarts, because right now is a bit confusing). The more simple way to use Advanced Launcher is to use stand alone launchers and let the thumb and fanart paths as default during the launcher creation. If you do not want to use Advancec Launcher features. it may be better for you to use then Launcher add-on that will more correspond to your needs. fidoboy Wrote:When i launch the app, XBMC is not being hidden or minimized, so the app runs in background and i can't see it.I did not know how works the Onlive app, but what I'm suspecting is that the Onlive application use 2 executables files : one as launcher and second one as main application. Works great! Both with XBMC and without. Tnx alot mate. :-) - fidoboy - 2012-01-25 Angelscry Wrote:The more simple way to use Advanced Launcher is to use stand alone launchers and let the thumb and fanart paths as default during the launcher creation. Thanks for this script Angelscry, it could be useful for future executables that i could use, but unfortunately OnLive app only uses one exe file. When i launch it, and using the windows task manager i can only see a single process named onlive.exe running all the time, until i exit the app. So this is not the problem. Using Advanced Launcher i run my app from XBMC and it shows a small dialog at top, saying 'Launching application...' or something like that.. but XBMC remains on top and i can't see the launched application. regards, - Angelscry - 2012-01-25 fidoboy Wrote:Using Advanced Launcher i run my app from XBMC and it shows a small dialog at top, saying 'Launching application...' or something like that.. but XBMC remains on top and i can't see the launched applicationOk... Have you activated the Use a fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen option that is present into XBMC system settings? - XBMCWin - 2012-01-25 I have a weird problem. I installed XBMC Eden Beta 2. I use a batch script to kill XBMC, start DVBViewer and start XBMC on DVBviewer close. Works good, but everytime I close back DVBViewer and return to XBMC, it suddenly resets it's settings. The language for example returns back from English to German. That only happens when using the advanced launcher shortcut I made for DVBViewer. When closing XBMC properly and restarting it, the language stays English! EDIT: Nevermind! That also happens when rebooting the whole PC, so it's a XBMC problem! - Angelscry - 2012-01-25 XBMCWin Wrote:I have a weird problem.I think it is always better to close XBMC instead of killing it. When you kill XBMC you did not know exactly what XBMC is doing (update library, update addons, save settings, etc...). Kill an application is the best way to corrupt files. - XBMCWin - 2012-01-25 Hm.. Your tutorial for batch-files suggested "pskill -t XBMC.exe" < that's the line I am using! EDIT: Found the error source: it's another plugin - I will contact the developer! - bakito - 2012-01-25 just a word about onlive...it work fine without any script! just launch a .lnk! cheers |
