Your Frodo version is already deprecated and may not works with Advanced Launcher. Use a more recent one please (after GIT 2010.10.12 for example).

RE: [RELEASE] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC - craney - 2012-10-24

(2012-10-23, 00:40)craney Wrote: I created a launcher to load the BBC IPlayer, ITV Player and Sky Go shortcuts in internet explorer using the method of using internet explorer as the exe and pointing the path to my url shortcuts and when i added them to my main xbmc menu and clicked on them the web pages loaded fine in IE and when i closed them it would go straight back into xbmc. The strange thing i noticed now tho is when i launch the same launcher from within xbmc and closed off the web page it just defaults back to my desktop? really strange as it never used to do that, it would always just go back into xbmc

Any idea why this might be happening now?

Cheers

May be fixed by version 1.10.2.

Version 1.10.2 : Finally found the right executeJSONRPC function and parameters to toogle fullscreen. So, this version of Advanced Launcher restore the Toggle Fullscreen option for Frodo, Eden and Dharma.... I hope...

Changelog :
  • Restore Toogle Fullscreen option.
  • Fix executeJSONRPC function.

Thanks matey seemed to work a treat! will advanced launcher always update itself? just wondered if so if it were possible to turn off the auto updated within xbmc as i like this version and it seems 100% stable for me

Yes, if you have installed my repository, Advanced Launcher will be automatically updated. Actual version on the repository is 1.10.2. The version 1.10.4 will be available soon. I'm not sure there is an option into XBMC to disable updates of a specific addon. If you do not plan to update Advanced Launcher regularly, best thing to do is to disable/uninstall my repository from XBMC and manually download Advanced Launcher. All released version of Advanced Launcher could be found here : http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-advanced-launcher/downloads/list?can=1&q=&colspec=Filename+Summary+Uploaded+ReleaseDate+Size+DownloadCount

Your Frodo version is already deprecated and may not works with Advanced Launcher. Use a more recent one please (after GIT 2010.10.12 for example).

Ah, thanks much for the info. I was running Frodo to get XvBA support, but I've now found a PPA with an XvBA-enabled build of Eden. With Eden I'm able to start ZSNES successfully with Advanced Launcher. Thanks!

I only mentioned roms as an example. This feature would be helpful in many other ways such as sorting storyarchs for comics, sorting documents and weblinks wich I have several and would like to be able to sort them in levels so that instead of just a launcher called "Websites" with over a hundred links I could sort them up in categories.
Would it not be able to use a tagging function as they have added for movies to do this? If an item in launcher has a tag called "news" you show it as a folder and when that is selected you show all items in the launcher tagged with "news".

I will try to see if it is possible. Because Advanced Launcher is a plugin and not a script, I'm relatively limited into what XBMC developers allow me to do under the program section of XBMC. Movies could effectively be tagged, but into Advanced Launcher, items are already tagged by launcher... so... It is not so simple. Wink

Version 1.10.5 - Angelscry - 2012-10-28

Version 1.10.5 : This new version of Advanced Launcher fix a couple of bugs occuring during navigation (after scan or search), fix a bug occruign when you manually delete the unique item of a launcher and improve the navigation transitions between actions.

Changelog :
  • Fix scan bug (was freezing after scanning new items).
  • Fix search command (error message).
  • Fix delete item (for last launcher's item).
  • Clean navigation transitions (windows refresh).

Putting "" around the path doesn't seem to be enough.
Normaly Advanced Launcher is able to manage filesnames containing parentheses. Could you please give me a concrete example that give you a problem on your system? Because on my side, I have a large number of filenames containing parentheses :
  • Chrono Trigger (USA).zip
  • Donkey Kong Country (Europe) (En,Fr,De).zip
  • Street Fighter II Turbo (Europe).zip
  • etc...
...but I'm not able to reproduce your problem.

Version 1.10.6 - Angelscry - 2012-10-28

Version 1.10.6 : This is not really a new Advanced Launcher version. I have updated my repo and homogenized all my addon logos. This version only bring a new logo for Advanced Launcher.

Changelog :
  • New Logo.

That's weird. Now suddenly the files I had problems with earlier seem to work perfectly fine. I noticed the problem several months ago when roms containing parantheses would not load using the launcher but worked if I loaded them manually via commandline. Now they load so I guess there's no problem to solve Smile
Sorry to bother you about it.

On the other hand I wanted to add a new launcher yesterday and all the dialogs said "Select new share" so I did not know what to select.

PS. I really like the new logo Smile

The dialog message "Select New Share" is not a message from Advanced Launcher. Which version of XBMC are you using? Could you please post here the content of your xbmc.log file (with XBMC debug mode activated) just after the dialog message appear?

I built a new build from GIT a couple of days ago when you released 1.10.3. But I have built a new XBMC from GIT today to see if it changes anything. But I built it remotely from work so I have not been able to test it out yet to see if there is any difference.

Could have been something wrong in GIT that make your script behave strange but I'm pretty sure the dialogs were from Advance Launcher as they showed as they usually do when I chose to make a new file launcher, asking for thumb directory and files and such, except that they all said "Select new share" instead of telling me what to select.
I just selected the same directory on everything and ended up with a new file launcher but all the paths were the same. But that I was able to fix using the Advanced edit function.

I'll see if the result is the same with the latest GIT when I get home tonight and if it is I'll post some logs.

If "Select new share" message display, it is XBMC which is displaying it, not Advanced Launcher. Could be related to the fact that XBMC is not able to access your Program folders sources, or is not able to access your previously defined shares.

Have you defined a Program Source using XBMC file manager or Advanced Launcher "Create New Launcher/Manage Sources" menu options? Does the XBMC user have the right to access the shared folders?

RE: [RELEASE] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC - SwedishGojira - 2012-10-30

I am VERY sure that all these are the usual message windows opened by your add-on because they only appear when I try to make a new launcher and the launcher works when I at the first message select the application and in the second select the file location and so on. The only thing seems to be that the message dialogs show the wrong message at the top.

Here is a link to a debug log of me creating a new file launcher named "test" using mednafen and then populating it with items and finally launching the ROM "Altered Beast":
http://pastebin.com/aThLqEHz

As I said, everything is working correctly, but the message dialogs all seem to show "Select new share" instead of "Select program", "Select fanart" etc.

RE: [RELEASE] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC - adrock0211 - 2012-10-31

The first time I scanned for all my games it went out, scraped all the thumbs and fanart and all the games were correct. I just recently had to reinstall my system but I kept the thumbs and fanart from the previous time in the same folder. Those folders are set as the default folders for thumbs and fanart but this time when I scan for games, it picks up all the games but doesn't associate the thumbs or fanart with the games?

The only way I have found to re-associate the local thumbs and fanart with the games is to do it to each one individually which would take forever. The only other thing I can think of is to delete all the images and do the full scan again and just wait.

Any help?
