RE: [RELEASE] XBMC Flicks - Netflix Movies / TV Shows (Video) experimental Addon for XBMC - sanvid - 2012-06-06

Hi,

I tried to check for solution/instructions in this thread but couldn't find one!

I recently installed XBMCbuntu EDEN 11.0 and trying to do a manual installation of XBMCFLICKS. I tried to copy the addon folder (manual installation as mentioned below) to .xbmc/addon/, but it didn't work.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=87552&pid=981367#pid981367

I suppose, the above instruction is only for Windows version or does it work for XBMCbuntu as well? I'm not good with Linux and would appreciate if someone could help me with instructions to make this work.

Thanks a lot!

I'm having a heck of a time making XBMC Flicks use chrome or opera. I always end up with IE.
I have tried setting both chrome and opera as default in w7 but that doesn't work. Tried editing the playercorefactory but that didn't seem to do anything. Copy/pasted what i found a few dozen pages back.

I used:

<playercorefactory>
<players>
<player name="Chrome" type="ExternalPlayer">
<filename>C:\Documents and Settings\xbmc\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application

\chrome.exe</filename>
<args>--start-maximized "{1}"</args>
<hidexbmc>false</hidexbmc>
<hideconsole>false</hideconsole>
<warpcursor>none</warpcursor>
</player>
</players>

<rules action="prepend">
<rule name="html" filetypes="html" player="Chrome" />
</rules>
</playercorefactory>

No clue if i did that right cause i have no idea what i'm doing. I think i may have screwed up the location for chrome above.
Any help is appreciated.

Can anyone shed any light on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

I've been running EDEN for a bit now, I have XBMC Flicks running great on my Windows 7 system. But I just built a micro system and decided to use XBMCbuntu as it is perfect for this little box. but when I try to install the addon manually (same zip file I used on my Win7 system) I get an error "Addon does not have the correct structure".

is there an easy way to resolve this? or is there a different addon to download for XBMCbuntu?

Let me know

I have a question about "Browse by Genre". When I choose this option, I'm presented with a list of 294 different genres. Is there a configuration that will give me a simplified list of genres (Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Foreign, etc)?

You can select genres to show in the configuration.
Open context menu in xbmcflicks & go to addon settings or Addons-Enabled Addons-Xbmcflicks-configuration.

For testing purposes, I went into Addon Settings and disabled all the categories except for Action & Adventure.

But when I went into Browse by Genre, this had actually added 19 genres:

I guess what I'm asking is if there are a way to disable all of these subcategories so that only the root category (Action & Adventure) shows up in Browse by Genre?

Although I'm very new to XBMC, I can't get it to work either. I've tried everything Fekker says to try that I've read. Seems I get a watchdog access denied error then XBMCFlicks never asks for my Netflix credentials nor even pops up IE. This last log is after I tried the IE wrapper. Using windows 7 64Bit.

RE: [RELEASE] XBMC Flicks - Netflix Movies / TV Shows (Video) experimental Addon for XBMC - Jason G - 2012-06-21

Is anybody else having problems with the netflix player losing focus since their web player update? When I launch from xbmcflicks, the player doesn't have focus, so I can't use my remote (or keyboard) to play/pause. I did write an autohotkey script to "Grab" focus back when it's lost, but I'm wondering if there's just something wacky about my setup that is causing it, and nobody else is having this problem?

I'm using IE9 x64 as the player shell. (Tried x32 as well, but that didn't make a difference).

I only want to use xbmc to watch netflix so I want this to be the only plugin running when i start xbmc...

I tried to get this plugin to auto run when i start xbmc without success, i tried:

<extension point="xbmc.python.pluginsource"
library="default.py" start="startup">

also tried adding all of this after the above line:

<extension point="xbmc.service"
library="default.py" start="startup">
</extension>

but i couldn't get it to launch.

Help?

Hi, I've tried looking for where there might be some hints and tips for getting this work in osx. Most troubleshooting instructions seem to be for windows. I have the add-on installed, at least according to xbmc. But I can't see the add-on itself in the add-on section. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I'm a total noob on xbmc. Thanks!

let's do it manually

in the iqueue.py file, open it with notepad and put the values in manually

MY_USER = {
'request': {
'key': 'xxxxxxxxxxxx',
'secret': 'xxxxxxxxxx'
},

key is the key that's output in the file
secret is the secret output in the file

that should cause the script to go to the second auth portion the next time you run it.

OK, I seem to have the same issue. But where do I find the key and secret to insert??

TIA.

If I recall correctly, you enable debug logging (in the plugin settings), do the Netflix login, then exit out of XBMC and refer to the xbmc.log for your key and secret. Hope that helps.

I used:

<playercorefactory>
<players>
<player name="Chrome" type="ExternalPlayer">
<filename>C:\Documents and Settings\xbmc\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application

\chrome.exe</filename>
<args>--start-maximized "{1}"</args>
<hidexbmc>false</hidexbmc>
<hideconsole>false</hideconsole>
<warpcursor>none</warpcursor>
</player>
</players>

<rules action="prepend">
<rule name="html" filetypes="html" player="Chrome" />
</rules>
</playercorefactory>

No clue if i did that right cause i have no idea what i'm doing. I think i may have screwed up the location for chrome above.
Any help is appreciated.

Can anyone shed any light on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Perhaps you are editing the wrong playercorefactory file. There's one in AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata and one in AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\plugin.video.XBMCFlicks\resources.

My guess is the "watchdog" error has nothing to do with XBMCFlicks. Look here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=128896&highlight=watchdog

I'm not an OSX user but my guess is that you need to go into the plugin settings and tick the OSX box.
See post #1 in this thread.- specifically the part that says:
"OSX Users: Important note
Notes: if using OSX, pick it in the addon settings, that changes how it handles the initial browser open so that auth will work"
