RE: [RELEASE] XBMC Flicks - Netflix Movies / TV Shows (Video) experimental Addon for XBMC - jervatron - 2012-12-28

Just read through this thread, HUGE thanks to yabsie for all the hard work. I've installed the 0.2a release from here http://code.google.com/p/netflixbmc/downloads/list
and gone through the steps to enter my key and secret. Top 25 and New Releases seem to work great, getting back to XBMC after a movie ends is a little clunky, but at least it works

As with others, Instant Queue displays nothing. Here's a clip from my log file, I hope it helps. It says something about status_code 403 and Account inactive (though my account is plenty active)

I've searched the forum but am not even sure of what I am asking.

I have got the plug in working though I cannot search, or browse content, the only things I can access are the Top 25, and the script fails when I attempt to search

Here is a log portion: (XBMC11, Windows 7 x64)

I am also in Canada, though I don't think that should affect anything as content is being pulled.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

(2012-12-24, 08:46)fmonaca Wrote: It is not an XBMC problem. As stated in the Playon forums, the video is re-created on the fly (transcoded), so there is no way to FF "ahead" of the file's end. Unless you have already seen it (i.e. left the pc going playing the video) and didn't restart the upnp client machine.
Unfortunately Playon always transcodes its contents (se the FAQ), so there is no way to directly access the stream.
For everything else it works great. Even on my ION it is performing good, although the video quality is not exceptional (even at max settings the trascoding degrades a little bit the original) and no HD available. Not a big deal since Silverlight didn't use the hardware acceleration of the ION anyway and I couldn't watch HD content without heavy stuttering.
They say that the HD is coming in some future release, but it will take a beefy machine to use it as the transcoding of HD content is really demanding.

This would make sense and does on another level. However, you aren't even able to rewind. It's not as simple as this.

I also did a quick wireshark capture and I see the two requests go out to the api site but only see a response back for the first one. The request looks OK at a glance but I don't see any reply (will look a bit closer tomorrow).

UPDATE: Just to be sure I removed XMBC Flicks and then installed the version from yubsie but get the same error (with yubsie paths instead of spudsdude...)

I see the "bad status" error message, thismean s that authorization isnt working.

Can you see anything other than instant queue? like browse by genre (with the newest version) for example?
if not then you have the standard userinfo.txt problem and you need search this forums for this fix. I think its oin like [age 110 or so,

I am also in Canada, though I don't think that should affect anything as content is being pulled.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

First you need to get the newest version of the plugin

The problem with being in Canada is that NF provides 2 APIs (connection we can program against to get the data) one returns separate results for USA and Canada, one only returs results that work in the USA. So features like browse by genre, experimental search etc will only work for people in the USA (or people how use a service like unblockus and pretend to be in the USA)

Also Instant queues are only rolled out to some customers, sadly not me so its hard for me to figure out why the dont work.

As with others, Instant Queue displays nothing. Here's a clip from my log file, I hope it helps. It says something about status_code 403 and Account inactive (though my account is plenty active)

Again, thank you yabsie!

I am having a similar experience as Jervatron; I've put the keys in the proper place, created a userinfo.txt file (which always remains empty), and I get the Top 25 etc but I get no instant queue stuff. I just get an empty result. I did not paste my log file because it looks so much like Jervatron's above; the 403 Account Inactive messages being the important point. I have not been able to get a movie from the Top 25 to play but that's for a different post. I am not a coder, so appreciate that many smart people here have worked hard. I just want something fairly seemless to work.
I am using a homegrown HTPC on a Gigabyte mobo with a newer Intel. I am using XBMC on Win 7 64-bit and I prefer Firefox.

Thanks for your help everyone!

The work around for your problem is listed In this post

try that out

RE: [RELEASE] XBMC Flicks - Netflix Movies / TV Shows (Video) experimental Addon for XBMC - yabsie - 2013-01-02

Looky looky a newer version

Check out the settings, Allow for global filtering , never show anything below user rating 3, never show anything under/over a certain rating

Slightly better experimental search dialog still a work in progress though, some buttons still do nothing (people/type/save maybe more)

To be extra patient, and to be fair to you for all of your hard work, even though I've been down this road several times, I went back and uninstalled the add-on, reinstalling it, again using your 0.2a version. Went through the process of authentication again, and went back and pulled the keys, and placed them in the userinfo.txt file (which always starts out empty. I also placed them in the MY_USER.request section of the iqueue.py file (I think I grasped this correctly from other posters, although it is missing from your referenced post - maybe because its implied). Anyway, all of that done, go back and get the same result, which is to say empty Instant Queue stuff although I can see the 25 listing. I should point out if I read it correctly the fix in your referenced post goes on to say that he got the same result.

If I'm reading all of this correctly, I am saying that the fix poster (Sirrico, post #1140), jervatron (post 1231) and I are all describing the same problem. We get the keys to work OK, but the Instant stuff is still not working, with the resultant log complaining of a code 403. I feel like I'm missing something (which considering my lack of coding knowledge wouldn't be difficult.)

Is there more to the userinfo.txt file than just the 4 key lines?
Is there some other place in one of these files where the correct keys are either not entered manually or not being copied correctly?

Also, to make sure I'm not doing something silly, when I pull info on the addon, even though I've loaded the alpha you worked, I still get that its 1.0.23 by TeamUMX? (i.e. go to 'Settings', find the addon and mouse over it to see the information on the right side.) I did go though and get rid of the old and even verified that I couldn't see it anymore.

Thanks

even if thought that was an OK idea, I can't now because I went backwards when I tried out the 0.3 you posted recently. I even went back and uninstalled and reinstalled 0.2.
Although I am baffled as to why when I uninstall, I still show there is an old .22 that I can't uninstall. Maybe that is what is screwing things up. Who knows what I've done!
Anyway, where I am now:
I go into the addon, click on something like Top 25 Arrivals, and it kicks me to the browser. I tell it to link, go back into XBMC and click OK, and promptly get an error. But when I look at the log, I get this stuff (I've shortened out a good bit for brevity, hopefully it'll still show something):
17:08:47 T:208 NOTICE: The dialog was displayed, hopefully you read the text and waited until you authorized it before clicking ok.
17:08:47 T:208 ERROR: Error Type: <class 'httplib.BadStatusLine'>

Nice job! You didn't call me any names for the I D 10 T error Smile When I loaded your version, I forgot to re-configure (but you already know that.) OK, let me work and get back with the new results. If I send something, I still may obfuscate a bit; I'm still a bit nervous about that.

Hi, noobie to XBMC here. I have been trying to get XBMC Flicks working on my XBMC for windows, but have been unsuccessful. Installed the add-on fine, and get all the way to the part where the web browser launches for me to approve access. When I come back to XBMC however, I get the "Script Failed" error. I tried all the suggestions here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=87552&pid=1080173#pid1080173, but to no avail. I did fine that the userinfo.txt file is empty, but deleting it doesn't help, and XBMC 10 has the same problem. Does anyone have any other possible suggestions, or is there more info i can provide to help with a diagnosis? Thanks

OS: Windows 7
XBMC Version: Eden
XBMC Flicks Version: 1.0.23

Hi all,

I'm new to the xbmc scene but have been doing inet tv on the TV's in my house for years now. The issue that I'm having along with others is when after I link my Netflix account to xbmicflix I'm receiving the script error when I go back and hit ok in xbmc. I've tried numerous things to fix this including removing and reading the app and even rolling back to xbmc 10.1 however nothing is working. Im running xbmc on a windows 7 64bit environment. It would seem as though the usersetting.txt is not be created at all. I did check the api checker website for Netflix api and I think this may be the actual issue but I'm getting mixed signals from that website. Does anyone have any thoughts on what else to try to get this working?

TIA!
