[LIVE] No audio after fresh install to Dharma on revo 3610 & AVI receiver 10 - eggzenbeanz - 2010-12-19

HI,

I've been using v9 xbmc live on my revo for a while now with working audio & video.

Just completed a fresh install of v10 XBMC live onto the revo, but cannot get audio working eith video dts or flac. Normally my AV amp would click when a dts video starts and kickout in 5.1.

I've changed the xbmc system settings, but nothing so far.

thanks

Hi,

go to programs from the main menu, then audio mixer. Unmute any iec devices.

audio setting should be

output : hdmi
speaker config : 5.1
dolby digital checked
dts checked
audio output device : hdmi
passthrough device : hdmi

cheers

You can also do the following to bring the Nvidia drivers up to date and fix LPCM if so desired.

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current nvidia-current-modaliases nvidia-settings
sudo wget http://pastebin.com/download.php?i=f5f9654bb -O /etc/asound.conf
sudo wget http://pastebin.com/download.php?i=f2e38265 -O /usr/share/alsa/cards/HDA-Intel.conf

i had 9.11 live working perfectly on my revo before i decided to move to dharma 10.

found that i no had sound at all.
configured it to get some pcm sound for mp3s and such, then i decided to just install a windows version.

hated the windows version and went straight back to live.
this thread was perfect for getting everything setup quickly with xbmc live 10.

thanks a bunch!

I was running Dharma beta 1 and all was fine. I decided to upgrade Dharma and now have no navigation sounds or any sound in any file I play. I get an error saying 'failed to initialize audio device check your audio settings'

I have tried the suggestions above. My audio settings are:

output : hdmi
speaker config : 5.1
dolby digital checked
dts checked
audio output device : hdmi
passthrough device : hdmi

I tried go to programs from the main menu, then audio mixer. Unmute any iec devices. but when I load audio mixer, it just flashes and shows a black screen.

Please help

You can download audiomixer from the "get more" option in programs. Another thing to try is deleting /home/xbmc/.asoundrc then reboot

cheers

I have audio mixer now but it just flashes on the screen for a split second and then shows a black screen with an 'x' in the top right corner. I don't get the opportunity to unmute anything.

Try open the Audio Mixer in Programs then unmute IEC958, 0 and 1.

I have been trying to follow your instructions but do the pastebin links even work, because I can't get to the files?

Hi I have gone to the audio mixer and unmuted all but I still can't get audio through my HDMI cable.

Your steps worked perfectly Acer 1600. Thanks.

OMG, you and Venares are a legends! I never had menu sound on my 9.11 install, but I never really cared because everything else worked. But when I did my 10.0 fresh install and had no sound at all, i was just about ready to ditch live and try OpenELEC or something.

You guys rule, if I had a uterus I would have your babies. Big Grin

Ive tried the above mentioned methods but i can only get some files to play with sound. Im running xbmc thru hdmi direct to tv and strangly enough the files im having trouble getting to work are stereo sound.

Example:
Video: XVID 720x404 29.97fps 1199Kbps [Video 0]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 22050Hz stereo 128Kbps [Audio 1]

My settings are:
Audio output: HDMI
Speaker Config: 2.0
Boost: checked
Dolby AC3: checked
DTS Capable: checked
Audio Output: HDMI
Passthrough: HDMI

Also if it helps, these settings worked on previous xbmcfreak releases

TIA, Davo

[Cross posted from http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=53888. In hindsight this was probably a better place to post.]

Like many others, I had some initial audio issues when upgrading to Dharma on my R3610. Note that I use optical rather than HDMI for audio. The guidance here got me 80% there - I now have audio for movies and TV shows.

However I don't get sound from any video plug-ins (YouTube etc) and I notice I'm not getting navigation sound either (not too fussed about that but I assume its related).

I've double checked my settings in Audio Mixer, and they look as I'd expect in Audio Settings. I've also re-run the wget comments from update #4. Anyone else got this issue, or have any ideas?
