can i add the hard drive of my laptop as a media source to my zbox based xbmc live setup? they are both connected to my wireless router...

If your question is, whether you can add a network drive as a media source, the answer is Yes.
Share the directory or drive on your laptop and configure it as a source in XBMC. You will probably be using SMB (windows file sharing) to access the files, that means that in XBMC you will have to add a source like: smb://<laptopname>/<sharename>
