PseudoTV - GuyDanger - 2013-03-23

I love this add-on but for the life of me I can't get it to work on ATV2. I have re-jailbroken, scraped my library and installed PseudoTV. It begins to install channels and freezes during the adding videos process. Has anyone else have it working on ATV2? I just want to know if its possible, and if so what version of xmbc are you running?

This add-on is amazing!

actually, PTV has strm support! its not playing because PTV only plays content when it knows the length of the video. Since a strm file is nothing more then a shortcut to web media... there is no metadata to read so PTV has no clue how long it runs... so its ignored... if you follow my post a few pages ago you can read how to manual create a nfo and scrape the strm file to xbmc's library from there you can add it to PTV.
thank you for the help Lunatixz ive read alot of your post they helped me get this far
maybe someone can tell me how to add a runtime sry if im missing somthing simple

Yeah, that's why this thread has had no one complain because they can't get their strm files working. I still say as has Jason in the past that PTV was designed for a "LOCAL" library. Any strm files you or anyone else gets working, is pure luck! I still don't understand why the folks who are attempting this don't use the thread with version of PTV that was modified to use strm files. This thread is long and those useless posts here just pollute it more and get in the way of those if us who are trying to use this as it was intended and get the bugs squashed.

Mark

Mark you crack me up... what are you talking about... If you understand what PTV is, how it works, and the strm support "icelibrary" jason has added.. you would not post such nonsense....Yes Jason has said that this is designed for local media... but he did add strm support meaning strm extensions aren't ignored...now if you understand what a strm file is... and how ptv plays media you would know that if xbmc can play it, its almost certain ptv will!

You don't need to run a modified version of PTV to have your strms play correctly... can you please supply me with an example of a strm you can't play in ptv... I want to squash this issue!

BTW people like you are the exact reason I hesitate to release my work... to many users who don't know what they are doing complaining about something they don't understand!

Please give me details about your setup...

would love to use the version with better strm support but cant seem to find a download link on that thread and ive seen many ppl ask the same question im asking only reason those post are useless are because no one ever answer's them

and btw mark your post are useless if u dont plan on helping or asking a question why even post just to discourage ppl from trying new things?

For your information, I have helped many people to get their PTV running and solve problems in this thread. I have tried to point people to the right version of PTV to get their strm files working while trying to keep the seemingly endless requests to get PTV to do something IT WAS NOT DESIGNED TO DO to move to the proper thread. The person who wrote this plugin, Jason, has said as much. All the strm talk in this thread does is move all of the useful information back in the thread. Sorry you don't like it.

By the way, the download link seems to be on the first page of that thread. I didn't have to look too hard to find it: https://github.com/robnewton/XBMC-PseudoTV

Mark

Again you are wrong this build does not have anything to do with strms... I'm the one adding internet stream support to it... the build from angrycamel adds HDHOMERUN Tuner support!!

That link is old Angrycamel moved on to the tvguide addon... So I took up the cause... you can find my releases here I added frodo support and I have enchanced strm support in my test builds...

I do agree that it is hard for a developer to track problems in this type forum, I suggest Jason create a development thread to handle major problems, but as it is this topic has turned into a general help thread.. and since PTV has native strm support, strm questions should be allowed...

Blank Screen - pharmeceutikle - 2013-03-23

I just added Pseudo TV and I'm getting a blank screen after it does its initial setup. I'm running XBMC Frodo 12.1 with Aeon Nox skin on a Windows 7 64 bit. Is there something I did wrong? Do I have to change skins? I can't exit out of PTV so I have to exit and restart XBMC again. Searched forum and Google but I see no solutions, yet!

log?

Blank Screen - pharmeceutikle - 2013-03-23

Ok. I partially figured it out. What I did so far is create rules for at least one channel. And it finally worked, but I don't get EPG, it just goes straight into the channel. I'll see if I setup a second channel and see if I can get this fully working.

Fixed: Just setup atleast one channel with rules or maybe just accessing the advanced channel setup worked for me. So anyone getting just a blank screen upon first run should try what I did.

Got it working in PTV no problems

Use this link
Follow these steps: (screenshots with steps in the link above)

1. create a nfo for the strm use the example in my link (btw you can also add a thumbnail photo if you want)

2. Scrape the strm by the directory your strms are located in... use this scraper

3 create a playlist for the strm by the directory its located in...

4. Setup PTV's channel to play the playlist
(when you are using a stream that is one long stream, ie not broken up into episodes like hulu... you can only use one strm per channel per playlist, but you can scrape them all together in one folder and add rules in the playlist to filter out the one strm you want. In my test builds of PTV that I will release shortly; I added a channel type that handles this kind of channel automatically I call it a 24/7 channel type but a normal PTV build will also work but you have to follow all these steps above and there is a chance PTV might try and seek ahead which could cause certain streams to lock up or stall till the new frame is buffered).

5. Sit back and wait as background channel is running (BTW fitting Movie Title was on while I waited "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly") describes a lot of the users on this forum Wink ....)

6. WAIT SOME MORE...

7. BAM! Enjoy CNN!

Should work with any strm xbmc can play

RE: - xecutionx - 2013-03-24

I updated to the latest release and it seems that Pseudo TV is resetting channels after each load. It's annoying because if it shuts down automatically (via the timer settings in Pseudo TV) the channel resets and you can't continue from where you were at. This didn't happen as often in the prior versions, IIRC. Is anyone else noticing this?

PseudoTV/Frodo Error - noonya - 2013-03-24

PseudoTV is locking when I try and start the program. It will begin to load a few videos (slowly) and then get hung up.

Here is the log file.

Any thoughts?
