reverified zeroconfig browsing as working in 10.0-5

- xpmtl - 2011-02-10

I've (re)jailbreaked and reinstalled 080211 nightly just to be sure and start fresh.

Still getting error 2 when trying adding a smb share and zeroconf appears like that in sources.xml :
zeroconf://%5fsmb%2e%5ftcp%2e%40local%2e%40octopus. wich is odd...

xbmc.log with debug : http://pastebin.com/YE4J3bsC

Anyways, thanks for all the great work you all provide.

Edit : [Resolved] :Got zeroconf working fine with allow guest access on airport extreme, also got rid of error 2.

Didn't stop me Smile
It's great to get my XBMC iPhone Remote App up and running with aTV2 now

I installed this build too for testing and I think I had a small bug with SMB shares.

If you want to add a SMB share with login and password, you enter the information required and you check "Remember for this path". But you made a mistake in the password.
So it comes back to the login information, you type in the correct password, but the same thing happens even if you check or not the "Remember this path".
If you come back to the main menu and start the "add share" procedure, it will be the same (and you will that your login name was kept in memory).

If you exit XBMC and launch again, you should be now able to add your share path without entering the login information, which means that the information entered after the first mistake was correct, but wasn't taken into account for some reason.

Hope it can help (I haven't seen anything about that in xbmc.log and I don't see any samba log on my AppleTV2)

By the way, I have a few videos in xbmc.log with:

Quote:13:56:46 T:252293120 M: 96600064 WARNING: could not find codec parameters for smb://WIND/Moviz/Rudo.avi
13:56:46 T:252293120 M: 96616448 ERROR: ExtractThumb - Error creating demuxer

Also, I just had something else.

I wanted to change the thumb of one movie, and while it was downloading thumbs, it suddenly went back to the AppleTV main menu.
Nothing special about that in the xbmc.log file.
I launched XBMC again, selected the same movie and "Get Thumb" again, and it immediately returned to AppleTv's main menu.

After another try, it worked.

Maybe it is related to that:

Quote:14:17:44 T:248791040 M:130539520 ERROR: ExtractThumb - Error creating demuxer
14:17:53 T:233377792 M:118231040 WARNING: could not find codec parameters for smb://WIND/Moviz/The.Back-Up.Plan.avi

The file doesn't seem to be recognized by XBMC 10 installed on my laptop, but it plays without anu problem in Windows Media Player.

EDIT: Forget that, it seems to be related to a crappy Wireless connection, once I connected the AppleTV to another one, it worked immediately and all movies appear into the list.

I get this weird click sound right when a movie starts. Anyone else experience this? or when I fast forward..

Having a few issues... (running the latest from root2)

When I do audio out through HDMI (to the receiver) all the audio doesn't work. It just a hiss. When I switch it to Optical, the audio seems to be working perfectly fine.

When playing any x264 HD Content I get a lot of buffering issues. I am going over wired network through a SMB Share (when this same connection was going to a HTPC running XBMC, never had any issues). It'll buffer for roughly 15-20 seconds then buffer for a few minutes (rinse & repeat).

When playing SD content everything works perfect.

(From the FAQ's)

Playback, audio:
AC3 Audio can stutter and pause video. Generating Thumbnails is the culprit, go into Settings > Video > File and deselect 'generate thumbnails'. Fix is in mainline, not atv2 branch yet. Also some are experiencing static with this enabled, regardless of Generate Thumbs selected or not. (thanks keith)

I never was able to find that setting... When I go to Settings > Video > there is no menu option titled "File" the closest one is "File Lists" and there I found "Extract thumbnail and video information" which I unselected... but it made no difference.

Looks like it's no longer called "Generate Thumbnails" and I was doing the right thing. I have since killed appletv and it made no difference. I'm setting up uPnP sharing now... as it seems a few have had better success with that.

Check your Audio/Video Sync selection I had an issue and after playing around with that it worked fine.

Not really sure what to change there?

Doing uPnP Sharing seems to solve the issue, just another loop to throw into the mix for this Sad

I was having an issue with massive amounts of buffering and very jittery playback on HD content. Went into settings and messed with how it syncs the A/V and that fixed it for me.

Could you please share what settings you changed and how they are configured now?
