RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - facted - 2012-08-21

On a Windows 7 machine here, cannot for the life of me get this to work. I have carefully followed the steps http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=95053&pid=1158938#pid1158938 here without success.

I'm on TWC internet with a valid comcast account that works fine in the browser. I have edited my cookies.lwp and userdata.xml as previously mentioned. I also tried both with the default.py that others have posted, along with an edited default.py with my login information. One question, under "provider", what should I enter comcast or is there an abbreviated code for it?

The pastebin from my log file when I try to open an event: http://pastebin.com/vCWChDgK

Just a few quick questions

1- can you actuaaly enter the addon?

2- Once the add on is running, can you see the content list?

3- IF you can see the content list does anything play?

Where is the point of "not working"?

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - facted - 2012-08-21

I can enter the addon. I can see the content list, but the content list does not play anything (either live or replay content). It says "opening stream" and then doesn't load anything and a popup window comes up on the bottom right that mentions script failure with the espn3 addon.

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - locomot1f - 2012-08-21

@facted

you're getting a pretty old error
Code:
IndexError: list index out of range

which usually means that some paramater was not passed through.

There is an abbreviated code for comcast. i believe it's just 'com'.
but really you should be using the information that you get from this link -- http://broadband.espn.go.com/espn3/auth/userData?format=xml
in your userdata.xml

and, if you are on TWC, why are you using Comcast? are they the same where you are?
in my experience, if you are using Comcast, you should not have to enable login/ password.

@Astro2004 - i don't mean any harm... but you might want to learn how to read a debug log, before you offer advice. Undecided

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - facted - 2012-08-21

I'm using what was on that website to make userdata.xml, but I need the provider ID for my cookies.lwp file, and to edit the default.py file as well. Someone was kind enough to PM me, and evidentally the comcast code = 'comcast-sso'. Using that, and an updated default.py posted up above, I'm able to get ESPN3 video to play. However, it no longer shows ESPN or ESPN2 (even though I've enabled those channels in the settings). Any ideas?

I have TWC at school, but my family has comcast @ home so I'm using the account from home. TWC does not offer ESPN3 without a cable subscription which I don't have through TWC.

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - locomot1f - 2012-08-21

@ facted.

ah, there's your problem... you're trying to find a loophole in the system

you will need a valid SWID -- the one from home
that's why it's kicking you out... it's reading the SWID from school, which is TWC, which, as you stated won't work.

then make sure login/ pass is not enabled. and that you have com in the affiliate code.

but i'm not sure how you'll get it to work, without a proper SWID.

@ facted - glad you got it working.

seems like a simple permissions problem to me. whatever login credentials that are given don't seem to be giving you access.
that's all i got.
maybe someone else has a different answer. i'm not a comcast user. Undecided
I vaguely remember a long time ago, someone figuring out how to access the "remote access" part of the http://watchespn.com website through this addon. might wanna do a search for "remote access".

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - facted - 2012-08-21

I can actually play espn3 video using the default.py someone posted above. However, looking through that file, it looks like it was an older version that did not have espn and espn2 support. I can't get anything to work with the default.py file that is included with the plugin.

I have valid access to espn3, espn2, and espn via web browser, though. Shouldn't I be able to login via the username and password option?

Thanks for your help!

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - locomot1f - 2012-08-21

I still think it has something to do with the SWID.
if i'm correct, that is what tells the system where you're coming from. the whole comcast-sso is just a loophole in the system.

not sure why you can't do anything with the proper default.py.

maybe someone out there has done what you're trying to do with the remote access...

Looking in to the log, found comcast login form had 'passwd' but the plugin was looking for password. Changed the plugin code(default.py) and it was able login. [NOTE TO AUTHOR: please make necessary changes to the code]

Could you please post your edited default.py file for us comcast users? I changed "password" to 'passwd' in the comcast section of default.py but it's still not working for me.

Thanks!

Agreed that the SWID is what tells the plugin where you're coming from, but my school computer SWID should be fine, as it access the content fine via web. No?

you do make a good point.

i'm at a lost... hopefully milli is still around.

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - Gainesway1 - 2012-08-21

I like this plugin and can't watch it fall off the map. I'll be looking into to see if there is anything that can be done. If so, we will SSH all changes 4 now.

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - facted - 2012-08-21

Reading back through the forums, it looks like ESPN and ESPN2 could never be accessed via comcast with this addon (only ESPN3). However, again, I'm only able to to this with the old default.py, not the new one that is included with the addon. It also looks like comcast login via the addon does not work.

Has anyone gotten ESPN and ESPN2 to work with comcast in general, and in particular via remote access?

Thanks!

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - beschmid - 2012-08-21

I can verify that ESPN3 streams are working with comcast as provider and the addons default.py from version 0.9.9, Only modifications I have made are my SWID to the userdata.xml and the modifying the addons settings. But, the ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU streams are not working using the addon (browser all streams work fine).

What settings in the addon settings do I enable. I do have my SWIP in my userdata.xml file but I am not using a cookies.lwp file.

FYI, it(or any of the workarounds) does not work with comcast except for ESPN3
