Thanks for the heads up - I am on Dharma. Having this switched 'on' in Dharma causes the plugin to not work.

canada on demand>discovery>an idiot abroad - qrlos - 2012-02-25

none of the shows on discovery channel>an idiot abroad appear to work, and i'm just reading this thread....is this because it is no longer being updated? seeing other people with problems with certain channels.
everything ive tried to play on discovery gets "playback failed, check log"

here is the pastebin site for my debug logs. as you'll see i have a few errors under canada on demand>an idiot abroad.
http://pastebin.com/T01Mr8sT

incase you don't want to go there....i can't read/write python (yet) so I THINK these are the relevant lines...

those two really stand out to me...so it says "unplayable" anybody know if that is a problem on my end, or where i'm getting it from is not kept up to date? how do i tell?

I'm having no problems with this. Did you update with the howlett version of the plugin? Also you need to switch on "my librtmp is awesome" in the settings. I just tired it now with this setting switched off and it failed to play and crashed XBMC.

howlett version? - qrlos - 2012-02-25

what's the howlett version? is that a version for specifically canada on demand? or is there a howlett version of lots of plug ins? i guess i'll just go google that...lol

- qrlos - 2012-02-25

i'm confused as to what i'm supposed to do with the howlett version, i installed in var/mobile with other repositories, and not working, still same error?

do i delete the andrepl repository? do i uninstall it? or do i just install the howlett version from zip?

any help=awesome

Howlett addon - vijayk416 - 2012-02-25

Howlett addon is here:
https://github.com/howlett/plugin.video.canada.on.demand/zipball/master
Original andrepl repository can be ignored.
After installing go into add-on settings and turn on "my librtmp is awesome".
Hope this works for you.

I all but wrote off this addon as nothing worked. Will give it another shot with this info, cheers buddy.

Patch to adopt rtmpdump/librtmp - qrlos - 2012-02-25

well i did exactly as you said, and still nothing. i have read that i need to do something called Patch to adopt rtmpdump/librtmpHuh?? found this page http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8971 but again, not really sure what that is or where to install it into xbmc?

i'm starting to gather that maybe, my librtmp is awesome already. but have no idea what that means as of yet. if it is already awesome, and this is still not working...here is my included pastebin:

vijayk416 just want to rule this out...did you try an idiot abroad on discovery, or is just your canada on demand working?

- vijayk416 - 2012-02-25

I have avoided issues like this by using OpenElec. I want as little hassle as possible with configuring XBMC so I have gone this route. If you are not interested in tweaking your system 24-7, I highly recommend it. Sometimes they are a little behind for some specific system requirements, but I've found since switching to the Eden daily buildsI've been pretty satisfied.

http://openelec.tv/index.php

If you don't want to run the Eden betas, there is a stable Dharma version they've set as the main download.

- Ghostdivision - 2012-02-25

I turned on my librtmp is awesome, and discovery channel (idiot abroad is working)

So is history...

More and more is starting to work, maybe thats all that need to be done was turn it on.

BTW i love this plugin. Although mtv.ca would be really nice.

Isnt openelec just a linux platform, wouldnt using up to date or nightly xbmc builds on windows be quite similar to keep everything updated?

working? - qrlos - 2012-02-25

hmm...i cannot figure why mine is not working yet. are you in canada? i thought i read somewhere it might be blocked outside of canada. i'm in the us.

Re: Adding a "PLAY ALL" option - Airon - 2012-02-25

Is there a way improve video contents by adding a "Play All" option? I watched CTV NEWS>CTV National News>(specific date)>(date: Part one, part two, part three etc....)

The "music video jukebox add-on" was able to put this "play all" as an option instead of selecting each one after another.

Many thanks!
Wink

play all videos - qrlos - 2012-02-25

yes there is a way. can't find remote at the moment so this is from memory...when selecting canada on demand in the add-ons highlight canada on demand and hold down the menu button, it will bring up some options and the bottom option is settings or something, and allows you to change to play all video parts together and you can then choose how many parts you want to link at a time.

i've read on here that enabling that feature makes the plug in not work, (personally i've had it on and off and every other combination and it doesn't work no matter what.)

have you tried discovery channel? are you in the us?

CBC Music - vijayk416 - 2012-02-27

I was wondering if there might be the ability to add on a music addon arm of CoD, much like there is for the BBC iPlayer. Recently CBC launched their CBC Music website and it is rammed with content. If we could access this content thru CoD, that would be spectacular.

http://music.cbc.ca/

Any thoughts from the coders? The last time I checked in with Andre, he was quite busy with life, so maybe others like renaudtrudel might be able to help out here...?

This is correct, if you go into the plugin settings (right click, addon settings) and enable the "Automatically play multiple clips(SVN 32470+)" box, then it should play all the pieces consecutively. This requires one of the Edin beta's (I'm using Edin Beta 3 and it works). It will cause xbmc to freeze up in Dharma.

Discovery channel does work.

98% of the content is region blocked to Canada, just like 98% of the free cable plugin and 100% of the hulu plugin is region blocked to the USA. You can try adding a canadian HTTP proxy server in the addon settings, but I have no guarantees that this will work as all the original developer's are in Canada. You might be able to find a canadian proxy you could try. But you are basically on your own for getting it working.
