On easynews you use their global search, it returns a http link to ALREADY UNCOMPRESSED mkv movie, you click the link, buffer for a few secs, and off you go.

I am not affiliated with them in any way, I just use the service. Retention may be not good as others, but for me, with today's broadband, downloading is not an option. Neither is the use of complicated methods to achive streaming.

Easynews is much like Icefilms of usenet. Just as Icefilms - no need for on the fly decoding and uncompressing (SabNZBd). However, it has much broader choice of media. New releases, HD content, adult content...etc.

Ok, it is a paysite. But for any decently confortable method of streaming (megaupload premium) you need some kind of subscription. Not to mention paying for nzb indexing site and news provider separately.

I just can't understand why there are plugins for every minor site that offers some nondescript content, and there isn't for such a big shot site that could be, beside NAVI-X for older stuff and Sportdevil for live coverages, your only media plugin.

I can understand what you mean. But what if easynews disappears? Then you have no alternative. Or what if you just don't want to use Easynews? The good point of this plugin is that it's universal.

With this plugin your can choose any newznab server and binaries provider. If one disappears, you can easily choose an other. In the end most people don't care how the streaming works, with sabnzbd or without sanbznd, just that it works.

As far as I understand it is only recently that the streaming functionality was enabled for any sabnzbd based plugin. Easynews has been around for 10 years.

I'll have yet to try how streaming works with sabnzbd. Is it really simple search and play? I am not saying this plugin should be abandoned, but more simple and more reliable solutions tend to prevail.

Maybe the task of writing a plugin from scratch is intimidating. Searching through forums I've found an old EN plugin (Easynews streamer) back from 2007 that only linked few binary groups. It hasn't been touched since and it doesn't work with Dharma nor with pre-Eden. Could it be revived?

you can get instant streaming with any provider if you use nzbplayer. I go for best retention and lowest cost. Shows and Movies start playing within 30 seconds with both NZBplayer and with this plugin using sabnzbd as the downloader.

Damn, I never found that deal. Now i'm trying to decide if I should switch to it or stick with the monthly cost. Thanks for the heads up!

StreamReactor is a good actively developed .nzb streaming player

http://www.streamreactor.net/

Usenetserver is only $7.95/mo @ $95.40/yr unlimited
Save a nickel/mo over Astraweb Nod

All other catagories work fine.
Win7 x64 recent nightly. Portable mode. Plugin ver 0.0.11

Any clues in the log? Looks like the url failed?

Anyone else get a script error in movies, x264?

Popeye MIA?

I'm still here Big Grin I rely on the forum to send me notifications once people post but it seems like it's not working 100%....

Your error for x264 is due to:

Code:
ExpatError: undefined entity: line 968, column 24

meaning, something in the rss contains sign the parser fails to parse. Can you have a manual look and see if you find any & ' " or any other strange signs?

Regarding the persons trying to sell usenet streaming services, pleas STOP and continue you discussion in another thread!!
The streaming in this plugin is no rocket science. It could be applied to any partial rar set. Back in the days with the XBOX-xbmc partial rars played just fine. This plugin just automates the requesting to SAB and tricks XBMC to play. It could easily be applied to any continues downloader ...

Popeye, good that you are still here! Did you find time to look into the issues with some .mkv files? It looks like it's happening only to some new .mkv files. Releases that are older seem to work most of the times.

I looked here http://www.nzbs.org/index.php?action=rss

The x264 in movies looks very similiar to all the other feeds that work. All have a & and =

x264: http://www.nzbs.org/rss.php?catid=4&iauthentication string

Nothing weird in the authentication string

Is this where you wanted me to look?

- Popeye - 2011-10-24

There is a ½ sign in the feed...
You can temp fix it by changin the code in deafult.py. Add one line.

Code:
def load_xml(url):
.
.
    response.close()
    xml = xml.replace("½", ".5")
    return parseString(xml)

Ill try in few hours. I gtg. Thx!

I can't get it to work. Should it be like this starting at line 666?
Code:
def load_xml(url):
    try:
        req = urllib2.Request(url)
        response = urllib2.urlopen(req)
    except:
        xbmc.log("unable to load url: " + url)
    xml = response.read()
    response.close()
    xml = xml.replace("½", ".5")
    return parseString(xml)

Plugin won't load. Syntax error:

Well this is strange Huh
After an hour of trying, I gave up and restored an un-modified (last modified 8/30/2011 8:20AM) default.py and Movies, x264 is working now.
I tried many times for the last few days and movies, x264 is the only catagory that gave script errors.
I have not changed any settings or anything.

The reason is that the feed for x264 has got more items in it and the sign is not part of the feed right now...
