Allwinner A10 : Is XBMC ported to MALI-400MP ?

ebsi4711, a XBMC developer has already got the XBMC gui running on mele box, the remaining
is to get the hardware decoder work, which needs some documents.

Is that work from ebsi4711 available publicly?

ebsi4711 = = Edgar Hucek == gimli

Here I am, trying to resist temptation, and it's sooo hard.

Plus, I'm really digging that double-sided remote. Just like my Boxee remote (just remote), but with more buttons on the remote side.

If XBMC works on this thing, you're gonna be a busy man, Tom :)

The only difference between the A1000 and A2000 is the case. The A2000 does NOT ship with a SATA disk case. They both have a 4 GB NAND chip, allthough the Android version on the A1000 only partitioned the first half of it. As soon as the linux drivers are ready, you can format the NAND to whatever you want and utilise the full 4GB.

As the A2000 is more expensive and does not ship with a SATA disk case, the A1000 might be the better option.

What about wifi? I noticed on the cnx-software.com articles (A1000 and A2000 ) That the A1000 has b/g/n while the A2000 only has b/g with the ability to add a 3G card. It seems odd that one would have wireless-n while the other doesn't. Are those articles accurate?

Also, I haven't seen any mention of an IR reciever even though some models are being sold with an IR remote. Does either the A1000 or A2000 come with a built in IR reciever, or would that need to be attached through usb?

No idea about wifi claims, but both are sold with a remote, at least from all the sellers I've seen (dx, Tom, etc).

What type of remote is included ? Is it this ? http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/51168...A2000.html
The normal XBMC log IS NOT a debug log, to enable debug logging you must toggle it on under XBMC Settings - System or in advancedsettings.xml. Use XBMC Debug Log Addon to retrieve it.

A1000 and a2000 use the same hardware. A realtek usb wifi card is soldered on pcb board. It does support 802.11n. The antenna is printed on the pcb and
you may find the signal is on the weak side.

Go for the a1000 and the f10 mouse is not worth the money.

They also both have the same wifi chip, same kernel, same driver, etc.... Not the only thing I can't answer at the moment if they have "n". I have not yet played enough with the device to inspect the wifi hardware. Maybe hipboi or gimli can answer that question. So basiaclly there is no difference, but I don't know if they are both b/g/n or b/g

The devices have a build-in IR receiver. The stuff is enabled in the kernel config. Again, have not yet played with it, but it appears to use a very common IR protocol (MCE?) and standard LIRC / kernel drivers.

The remote included is not very special, but not bad as well. The best pictures about the content in the box can be found at dealextrreme;
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/mele-1080p-...913?item=2
And there is some small picture on the Mele product page as well;
http://www.mele.cn/en/web/pro_show.aspx?cid=46&pid=60

Secondly;
It looks like Tom (hibboi) is very much cooperative to get XBMC running on this device. He is the one that sponsered the box to gimli, and it appears now that he is giving gimli access to all he need for the hardware video decoder (documentation and libraries).

We all have to take Tom for doing this and off course Gimli to dive into this new project.

Like I said before. Just give it some time. The future looks bright ahead.

BTW: If the stuff is ready, it basically means you can dual boot a lot of cheap android tablets into xbmc. So you no longer have to wait for the android port. So you can get of the back of the devs for that one, at least they can continue in peace without being asked about it all the time Wink

thanks for the info! I can't wait for the port to be finished. I have been looking for a a nice cheap set-top box to make into an XBMC front end for my new house, and this seems to have fallen into my lap at the best possible time. I can't wait to blow my graduation/birthday money on one of these and a nice new TV. Thanks for the hard work so far all!

The wifi chip is RTL8188CUS according to http://rhombus-tech.net/allwinner_a10/ha...ele_a1000/. It supports 802.11n. The nice picture posted by j1nx is here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9959499/a10/A10_...ide_p6.jpg and you can see the wifi chip clearly (bottom left).
