This is already clear in the first post but I will make it bigger.

+1 to that - we spent a lot of time getting good log info gathered from the system and presented in the log, and we know exactly what those msgs mean. DIY debugging is fine if you solve it, but if you need a dev to help we need the whole picture - often there can be misleading things in the log - let us interpret them.
System: XBMC HTPC with HDMI WASAPI & AudioEngine - Denon  AVR-3808CI  - Denon DVD-5900 Universal Player  - Denon DCM-27 CD-Changer
- Sony BDP-S580 Blu-Ray  - X-Box 360  - Android tablet wireless remote - 7.1 Streem/Axiom/Velodyne Surround System
If I have been able to help feel free to add to my reputation +/- below - thanks!

I too get the no device available error. I have done a fresh pull this morning, make clean ; ./configure ; make. I hope the info below helps. Thanks.

I have the new audio engine installed. Everything works pretty good except I have no sound when it comes to playing mp3s or navi sounds. Navi sounds I'm not concerned about.

@gnif -- rebuild alsa, and rebuild xbmc master with make clean. LOG :: http://pastebin.com/YVsQ317K

i tend to wonder if the issue is alsa related... in the old AE when I set custom = hdmi:CARD=Generic,DEV=0 everything was fine. I notice now i get a "unknown pcm" error when i launch xbmc.bin

Is ALSA 1.0.25 required per the log messages? I'm unable to install it on Ubuntu 10.10 with the latest Kernel and am THIS >< close to moving to 11.04 (Unity gag!). I've got two machines soundless right now that are ATOM\ION systems that had been working. If I don't have to move to 1.0.25 I'm sticking to 10.10....

I've got it compiled on fresh xbmcbuntu which has 1.0.24 and i've got sound so doesn't appear so

Trying it out with AMD Radeon HD 4200. It's not listing the HDMI. To do with the problem of finding HDMI devices?

Just compiled with the latest fixes inserted last night. Zotac has nav sounds and mp3 audio from music but nothing from video. I had to switch the audio output to NVIDIA HDMI. Best I can do for the log is this as it's too danged big! http://pastebin.com/iNUiwdf2 LOTS of SQL errors spamming me and no my db permissions are just fine <sigh>

For the Zotac:

The Asrock looks like alsa is now broken. My attempts to update it last night seems to have borked it. I will try to reinstall alsa and report back on this one <sigh>

rebuild xbmc from scratch, as advised only did ./configure, installed and tried to play a movie. Movie started playing very choppy with no sound and froze a few seconds later. I've stopped playing and closed xbmc. The file plays fine in Eden.

log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/984942/

I've updated nvidia to 295.49
Code:

In fact the computer is hooked to a Yamaha reciever which in turn is hooked to my Panasonic TV. I don't know why the "device name" seems to get passed along, but I guess it doesn't matter.

I moved my nvidia GT520 card to my HTPC and made a dual boot with Vista and Ubuntu 12.04.
On Vista I installed DDDamian's XBMC-AE Final. On Ubuntu I compiled the Master.

After I changed some audio settings in the control panel all my Music Videos played OK in Vista.

The Ubuntu version has problems with drop-outs when playing DTS HD MA, see log
http://pastebin.com/as2JvTM8

The cpu on the HTPC is an Intel Pentium E5200

Not wanting to state the obvious but, when you say "from scratch", I assume you mean taking a fresh pull from the XBMC git?

There was a bug that gnif fixed in the last day or so that certainly addressed similar issues that I was experiencing...

@negge, sounds like you may have your Yamaha receiver set to pass audio through to the TV. If you do this, the receiver is limited to the audio capabilities of the TV, and the EDID info that gets passed to the computer is the TV's. See here.

deleted the 'old' xbmc-dir, cloned into a new directory. Tried it again yesterday afternoon, after pulling the latest commit, recompile, still no sound..
I don't know what broke while the merge, but the versions before the merge where fine.

I'm aware of commit 6a7404b577db96f2a367c21d25904c37538c16a7 Smile

I'll try again later with --without-pulse
