Kodi/XBMC in the media? Post links here
One of these take heed articles "While the risk of using Kodi to stream illegal content is usually relatively small, it’s worth being informed when an add-on compromises your privacy and could get you into serious trouble."

https://betanews.com/2018/08/19/popular-...ones-home/

Znet finally discovered some add-ons use cryptomining. duh...

Media reports new models (Smart Android) of Sony TV's are actively blocking the installation of Kodi. Slash users offer this hint and many protestations; Sony seems to be blocking the package ID for the app from being installed/run. Supporting this theory is the fact that recompiling the app from scratch with a different ID allows it to work. It's a panel that is no longer on my wish list, hope CES offers better than this.

Edit : ->Sony Says it Will ‘Fix’ Kodi Problem in Next Update, guess this falls under 'we'll see'.

[edit] Looks like Sony made good on it's promise!

It seems the days of the pirated TV boxes are numbered. Dragon Media paid 14.5 million USD for its TV box https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2019...t-holders/. It is something to be taken into consideration when buying TV boxes (if there is still anybody wanting "free TV").

Unfortunately there are still people for whom common sense and the internet don't mix, and if it's peddled that way will believe anything that they're told such as "you can legally have stuff for free that everyone else has to pay for - no catches involved."

There are still as many born every minute than in PT Barnum's day, indeed probably more...

There are still people trying to get Netflix for free by using some account generator (based on stolen emails/passwords, of course). Of course many still jump the gun on such TV boxes. This is why our Internet is being limited and scanned every day.

if you look at Brexit and POTUS, it's not just the internet where people lack common sense these days Sad

In those cases it's more beware of what you wish (and vote) for, as you might just get it...

Picked up an OG Xbox recently and been looking through softmod bits and pieces, came across this this blokes YouTube channel, covers off on some pretty cool history that a lot of users probably aren't aware of.

Link doesn't appear to have been posted yet.
