libstagefright - Experimental hardware video decoding builds
I have tested the current build 7/14 on 2 of my OUYA's and everything seems to be playing back fine. I use an MySQL database with over a 1000 movies. So far everything I have played from 1080P and down has worked without an issues. If I run in to an issues I will update the post.

I am reading a number of people having issues with YouTube on this build. I am having this issue as well.
Hello,

My Ouya with Alpha 1 works great for movies

But when i play LiveTV, it crash ( immediately or after 15s )

I experienced the same on Windows, so this is not Android specific. In my case it was related to a .bin/.cue ISO file of a movie XBMC/ffmpeg coudln't read properly for meta/thumb extraction and thus loaded the full movie into RAM. Same seems to happen in your case with "/storage/sdcard0/usb_drive_1/Filme/Alamo der Traum/alamo-a.bin"

Yes, deliting the .bin/.cue files fixed it for me too.
Made try and error later this day and found it out for myself as well, even thought I am not very familiar with reading debug logs.

I have one more thing which I hope to get your attention / support for:

I do record /*a lot of*/ movies with OTR (onlinetvrecorder.com).
However, when I play them in XBMC, I need Bob deinterlacing for them, to play fluid.
Android versions doesn't seem to have them, is there any chance to get this implemented?
The 2 build in deinterlace methods doesn't seem to improve the video playback.
On my Ouya just ran the listed test vids. Harry potter audio is out of sync, audio comes later

Ouya, received a small system update today so fully up to date, xbmc 14 july build, files play over ethernet (wired).

vc1_1080p_l3_18mbps_ac3_hddvd.mkv stutters like crazy but weirdly the onscreen stats (o on keyboard) show no frame drops. Only when it ends do I see drop increase from 0 to 78 or something (moves on to next file so only on screen very shortly). It the crashed to ouya desktop, the log after starting again was empty so no log to update.

Can another ouya users please test these files (in first post here) and verify my results (and hopefully get a log for the second file?)

vc1_1080p_ap_l3_18mbps_ac3_hddvd.mkv I only heard audio and still saw the menu.

I first played matrix file (fine), then this xvid and I hear audio but stay in file list. I scroll back to main confluence menu, hit fullscreen that does nothing, no video.

I can't find any files, only logs, and I don't think you're allowed to link any video anyway. I'm going to try the 14/7 build today.
First post of this thread links to a site with files to test. I used those as they are known.

I see, sorry! Going to download those as reference. Do you play everything via ethernet?
Yes I did. Could try USB as well, will try this weekend.
Hi guys this is my first log uploading sorry if I did any mistakes...so this is a very very good built when coming to hardware acceleration I played each and every video smoothly with no problem however.. I have been experiencing problems with some addons. They are giving me the remote share error when I try to open them this is my log http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=38009 running on the new xperia z tablet. Thanks for any help for the addons fix if any let me know if you guys need more logs.
Hi,

I tested this on my Lenovo A820. But unfortunatelly, doesn't work. No picture when hw acceleration enabled. Is there any logs on android that I can post here? I downloaded latest xbmc for android from main xbmc.org site.

/edit
Sorry I didn't read first post from this thread and it seems it's explained there how to obtain logs and also you posted latest builds there so I'm not sure if I use latest build.
On my OUYA the latest build is the best so far for playing HD x264 material, both in 1080 and 720. There's very little stuttering regardless if it's from the internal storage or via SMB through ethernet. So it seems that there's no network issues now. Although something in XBMC still makes the fan going all the time. While playing X264 HD video in MX player (also via smb ethernet through ES file explorer) the Ouya is dead silent all the time which means that it's only the GPU working while XBMC uses too much CPU causing the fan to start going. I'm sorry for comparing with MX, I get the feeling that people get angry when comparing XBMC to other software that works better, but I feel this is relevant as proof that 100% working hardware acceleration is possible in android if the gpu is good enough.

Just tested the same from usb, same issues. just could not test the stats as I have only one usb port and dont know how to trigger them without keyboard (usb was plugged)

@merdique: do the testfiles from the opening post all play for you?

As you live in Brussels, i presume that you left it to get a little more heat and sun (i live in Lille ...).

Could you look to post 670, it describes a vertical lines issue with debug log that i can reproduce. As i cant provide a debug log (addon doenst works and i dont have a windows computer to get adb on my ouya) i put a sample of a ts file in post 663.

Hope it will help you,

++

I am also interested in this issue. You can install the 'America's Test Kitchen' addon if you would like to see an example of what it is doing. All videos in that addon exhibit the same artifacting bibi describes. The video information shown is 'h264(main), yuv420p, 640x352[sar44:45DAR 16:0]) . I do not have an easy way to get to my logs otherwise I would share them. Hope this informaiton helps.

@Koying, Just wanted to let you know that this strange artifacting was being caused by libstagefright. I disabled it and tried the plugin and the artifacting went away.
I think atk is one of those "unsupported" plug in.

Anyways I didn't see any artefacts like #670 in ATK episodes on nexus 10 or ouya.

Does it happen from the start of ATK episodes for you?

Can't access http://dl.free.fr/gBNbZw3jP as the website seems broken.
