DSPlayer (DirectShow Player for XBMC) Frodo build available
I guess to be clear, I wasn't suggesting you use MPC-HC as an external player, but as a test bed if you prefer not to install the dsplayer build. With the exception of using madVR, whatever picture you get out of MPC-HC is going to be the same you get out of DSPlayer as long as you load the same filters. Controls - that's another matter.

But I'm with you. I routinely install different builds with no issues, but others seem concerned about breaking something. As long as you do all of your xml editing in the appdata/XBMC directory, reinstalls go just fine.

yea, im not sure which one im gonna use to be honest. i wish i could get the original build to work well without the judder and i think i would be happy. but i do see a little more clarity with the added filters..... ugh...

It should be on users/urUser/remote/appdata/xbmc/userdata
(or similar, i am just talking by memory here)

Btw, that playercorefactory is telling to use DVDPlayer with those files.

Sorry, my bad...I've created the rules but didn't changed the player. Btw the xml is in my user data folder

It is designated that way by the developers for the purposes of making locations available without OS specificity.

Now I'm confused. In your original post you wanted DSplayer to play the stream. The above rule is asking DVDPlayer to play it. But the log shows what I suspected. That DSPlayer cannot construct the graph. Which is exactly what is stated in the threads first post. So you are stuck with having to use DVDPlayer to play that stream.

So with xbmc i can't use direct show to play rtmp? Sad Maybe with MPC-HC?

No. You cannot. As you quoted:

This is not exactly its issue, but rather a DirectShow limitation - there is no universal DS source filter which can support various network media streaming formats. As a workaround, you can add the following strings into the <rules> section of your playercorefactory.xml file:
PHP Code:
<!-- DSPlayer rulesset network streams to DVDPlayer -->
<
rule name="streams" protocols="daap|rtv|rtsp|rtmp|http|https|rtmpe|rtsp|mms|rtp|pvr" player="DVDPlayer" />
to play network streams with XBMC's default DVDplayer.

The rule is setup to AVOID using DSplayer for streams. Because there are no open source Direct Show filters that can support that format. There are a couple of commercial filters, but there are $400 and $1200 for developer licenses. DVDPlayer uses librtmp.dll which is not written as a DS filter. And since MPC-HC is a DS filter based player, then you will run into the same issue with that. There are other open source players available that will play RTMP streams. Just go to sourceforge and search. You could set up one of them as an external player if they accept the stream url as a command line parameter.

Finally now it's clear. So I'll look forward for open source players.

Thank you very much for your support!! Blush

rtsp, rtp, mms, http, https will work with lav decoder/ dsplayer (but not rtmp), i have tested this by myself. i had successfuly runing pvr / mediaportal tvserver (rtsp) with dsplayer/ lav. if anyone is interested i can show how to do that.

Good to know. I think because RMTP was originally a proprietary Adobe Macromedia product there hasn't been much love for it inasmuch as creating DirectShow filters for it. For future reference, are you also using the LAV source/splitter?

I personally use the ServerWMC as a backend PVR and can also use DSPlayer or MPC-HC for non-DRM streams (they are in .ts or .wtv format).

^^ Me too.

Any idea when a Gotham build is coming? IIRC I thought the dev said one was going to be made available in Janaury. That has since passed, obviously.

here you will see how it works wirh "http":
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1557059

you have to copy these lines to your mediaconfig. then delete http+https from playercorefactory. that will work for http/https. if you want rtsp just copy the "http" -segment below (without the url -rule and change "http" to "rtsp". then delete rtsp from playercorefactory (note, rtsp is 2 times there). after that http and rtsp is working with lav.

There is still no final code Gotham code to work with, obviously.

Hi, Im pretty new to the whole XBMC topic and using curently the XBMC 12.3 DSPLAYER version in combination with FFDshow so I can use SVP Manager.

But now I got a problem, the Youtube plugin and Pneumatic plugin wont play using the DSPlayer. Pneumatic crashes my XBMC, how can i fix this? Im totaly lost here, and I dont wanna miss the DSPlayer but can't use it with both Plugins.

I hope someone can help.

I don't use either of those plugins, but to start, clear your logs by restarting XBMC, reproduce one of your plugin problems, close XBMC and then either post any relevant snippets from XBMC.log (located at C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\) here using the # tag in the editor or post the whole thing in pastebin and provide a link. Repeat for the other plugin/problem.

Also post any relevant parts of your filtersconfig.xml and mediasconfig.xml files.

I reproduced the Pneumatic XBMC Freeze, here the log http://pastebin.com/davFFENL

I think its because Pneumatic is trying to open the .mkv with an other Player than DSPlayer.

Actually, it looks like DSPlayer is trying to open it (lines 500-501), but it's likely that it doesn't understand "rar://D%3A%5CDownloads%5Cincomplete%5CGame%2eof%2eThrones%2eS02E10%2eValar%2emorghulis%2eGerman%2eWS%2eDVDRip%2ex264%2eiNTERNAL%2dMQ4Y%5CGame%2eof%2eThrones%2eS02E10%2eValar%2emorghulis%2eGerman%2eWS%2eDVDRip%2ex264%2eiNTERNAL%2dMQ4Y%2epart01%2erar/mq4y-gots02e10-x264.mkv"
as a valid path/filename.

I could be wrong. We may need Roman_V_M to look at the source, but I'm not sure that the rar://... will automatically be translated into a 'real' path with the standard XBMC path translation functions.
