Your new Frodo 12.1 Build with channel switching improvements
#1
Hi Margro,

as I see you created a new Build : http://www.scintilla.utwente.nl/~marcelg...html#frodo

Very nice! Thanks for this!

Right now I am using the DSPlayer Build : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=154534 which improves video quality of XMBC a lot. My question now, how can the improvements of these two builds be combined?

Or will your improvements become standard XMBC?

Thanks!

Hi Margro,

the guys from the dsplayer integration team can create a "merge build ". Could you provide a Frodo 12.1 diff patch regarding your TV improvements. This would be nice.

See here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1379372

Thanks!

The patched Frodo 12.1 source tree can be found here:
https://github.com/margro/xbmc/tree/Frodo
I forgot to create a tag for my build. I will do that later.

All commits from Mar 24, 2013 with FernetMenta as author and me as committer (see the commit list https://github.com/margro/xbmc/commits/Frodo) could be cherry-picked into the DSPlayer Frodo tree.
A full merge will probably also work, but that will also import a sligtly newer ffmpeg library and some other minor changes.

Note: the channel switch changes are only for the internal ffmpeg based player. As far a I know, it is not possible yet to watch TV through the DSPlayer.

Ok, I've imported most of the DSPlayer changes in my Frodo branch (except for iMon LCD support).
https://github.com/margro/xbmc/tree/Frodo-dsplayer

The corresponding Windows build can be found here:
http://www.scintilla.utwente.nl/~marcelg...build.html
I haven't done extensive testing. but the DSplayer part seems to work even when playing recordings.

Hi Margro,

did a qucik test. The channel switching time is a dream, that rocks!!!

Unfotunately your dsplayer integration is buggy. Most of the times when I started to play a movie a strange noise ( like when you navigatin through a menu, the clic noise very very fast) is somewhere in backround. This noise is not in th "official" dsplayer build.

I appreciate a new version I can test..

Working fine here, tried half a dozen or so movies and live tv. Thanks for taking the time to build this.

Hmm, can't help you with that. I just merged Eduard's Frodo branch with mine and I haven't seen serious merge problems. I will clone his git repo and check the differences. Could be that I forgot something.
It runs fine on my development machine but all DSPlayer playback fails after 1 {s} on my HTPC. I will also test the build from Roman_V_M.

Hi Margro,

mhh, I switched back to original dsplayer build and everthing is fine again?! Maybe this is due to my dsplayer configuration settings I use AV splitter lav codecs and ffdshow for post processing, but on the other site no problems with this in eduard dsplayer build?! Also no playback fails with this build, and with your version I did not play a movie so long due to these noises in backround.

Many thanks for checking this. Would be fantastic if this would run

Hi Margro,

I localized the problem, as I decribed I had some swichting noises in the backround when I start playing a movie. When I disable natigation sounds under system /appearance/skin I don't have these noises. Unfortunately I don't habe any navigation noises then :-(

When I enable navigation sounds I more less always have these noises, In some case I don't I always have them when I came from a dvd and Then I wanted to play an XVID Format then, I can also switch of the noises during movie playback selecting the audio menu changing setting "output stereo to all speaekers" or "Audio output" Very strange?!

Again, swichting time are a dream and I hope your improvements became standard XMBC soon.

Many thanks for this.

Try changing your sound output from wasapi to directsound or vice=versa, in system settings. i am sure that has worked for me in the past.

I set default direct sound alredy as default, no chnage in behaviour, did additional tests, has nothing to do with navigation sound, had something to do with any present sound source, if a movie is playing, and you start a new movie without pressing stop before, I can reproduce same behaviour

I just installed the DSPlayer build and it works with Mediaportal, but it is still using the internal DVDPlayer for Live TV. From what I read, I hoped it would be possible to also have DSPlayer for LiveTV. Is this possible and if yes, how do I need to configure the MediaPortal PVR add-on to do so? Thank you very much for your support and improvements to XBMC.
