Super Turbo settings Raspberry Pi
#91
(2014-12-12, 09:32)Warez Wrote: or is it just as simple as this?:

arm_freq=1150
core_freq=600
sdram_freq=650
over_voltage=8
over_voltage_sdram=4
force_turbo=1
max_usb_current=1
gpu_mem=192
disable_overscan=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1

The Pi will set the gpu_freq= to Default 250 or 240 if you set core_freq=600 and that's it?

Personally I'd just use this. If that overclock is reliable, then performance will be good and tweaking gpu_freq will probably not result in measurable improvements.

arm_freq=1150 is max... 1200 makes it freeeze
core_freq=550 is max... 600 makes it freeeze
sdram_freq=650
over_voltage=8
over_voltage_sdram=4
force_turbo=1
max_usb_current=1
gpu_mem=192
disable_overscan=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1

only now i've added MPEG-2 and VC-1 and i get black screens on RTLxl addon? I use openelec Helix RC3 do i have to ad more to gpu_mem? Like 256?

Do you get black screen without overclock?

How can i make a log file.... because there's no more XBMC folder?

edit: It's not the overclock or the MPEG-2 and VC-1.....

@ MediaPi,

Can you add this link to Post #1 as its pretty important to have a capable ~ 5V/2.0+ Amp power supply when overclocking:

Can you create a new thread. Your problem has nothing to do with this thread.

Is there anyway to boost or overclock internet download speed?
It seems like with overclock it turns down internet speed.... or is this a mis assumption?

That's a mis assumption. No reason for internet download speed to be harmed by overclock.
Internet download speed is inherently variable. Perhaps more people had connected to the same server when the download was slower.

Raspberry pi B+
Aluminium heat disipators
Acrylic enclosure
5V 20x20 fan, running at 3.3V (for noise)
Openelec 4.97.2
Pi is powered via USB port from a Memup ZX HD Multimedia HDD (one port for power, other one as storage)

My configuration file:
gpu_mem=128
gpu_mem_256=128
gpu_mem_512=256
arm_freq=1100
core_freq=550
sdram_freq=600
force_turbo=0
initial_turbo=0
overscan_scale=0
disable_overscan=1
overscan_left=0
overscan_right=0
overscan_top=0
overscan_bottom=0
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1
hdmi_drive=2
hdmi_force_edid_audio=0
hdmi_pixel_encoding=0
hdmi_ignore_hotplug=0
sdtv_mode=2
sdtv_aspect=1
hdmi_ignore_cec=1
disable_splash=1
over_voltage_sdram=4
max_usb_current=0
over_voltage=8

With this configuration, playing full hd files:
Max temperature is 38,5ºC (more or less).
On skin (confluence), 34ºC.
Room temperature is about 21ºC, but pi is inside a furniture, so maybe is more.

Before those new parameters I use Turbo, and temperature was 31ºC at iddle and 34ºC playing full HD

The confluence skin is noticeably more responsive, and also, other skins now go faster. Now I can use a keyboard arrows without delay.
Very happy with these settings

All settings were done by Openelec RPi Config addon

Running the hardware mod and USB stick:

arm_freq=1300
core_freq=550
sdram_freq=600
over_voltage=8
over_voltage_sdram=6
force_turbo=1

gpu_mem=224
disable_overscan=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1

On the B rev. 2.0 coolingblock and fan.... this is not possible on a sd card
And a 5 volts 3 amp powersup

popcornmix is there a way to use a sd card and the overclock settings? The lexar 600x sd cards outperform the usb by far.... the usb stick is this one: http://www.corsair.com/~/media/Corsair/P...ened_1.png

Hi

Anyone have any quick settings to try with a default 1A/5V power supply (http://canada.newark.com/raspberry-pi/rp...st=53W8467)

I'd prefer not to over volt, at least not by much. I've been using the "modest" settings no problem but would like a little more snappiness

Just using a basic streaming setup: the popular 3rd part streaming add-ons are basically all that gets used

now that a new Pi is released maybe someone can start a new thread on seeing what the "super settings" are for Pi 2. Dom your the expert Smile

P.s. the speeds will be blistering by default anyway but users like to tinker, but new thread will be guidlines on tinkering safely

With the launch of the Rpi 2 publishing Rp 1 B overclock numbers doesn't sound as exciting but here are my stable results:

arm_freq=1167
core_freq=500
sdram_freq=600

over_voltage=8
over_voltage_sdram=4
force_turbo=1

gpu_mem=224
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1
disable_splash=1

* Using a heatsink from an old PC motherboard which was re-purposed with a dremel.
* Max temperature after 1h stress testing was 66C.
* Power source: [email protected]

I was a tiny bit disappointed as I my target was 1200MHz, still this overclock makes Aeon Nox quite decent in terms of usability and it's a great improvement!
I've compiled some links and resources on a google spreasheet (as well as my progress) and I made it public through the below link (most of it will probably also apply to the new pi):
