Android Latest VidOn Box Impressions
Cmdr , what are you using there?

Im using their latest xbmc , with quartz skin to get the info

And i get the audio codec and video codec info

And is showing the fps going up and down from 29 to 30 fps with only 10 drops after 10 minutes playing
@Wolly

How are these propositions difficult to understand?

1. You distribute an android media player.
2. Android kernel is modified linux kernel.
3. Android kernel is GPL2.
4. You are obliged to make your kernel source available.
5. You don't.
6. You are a GPL violator.
7. Your product is illegal.

Don't hide behind Allwinner. Read the GPL2. Understand it. Live by it or develop your own fucking kernel. You make me sick.

Wolly , about the private message you sent

Yes , all the other conpanies released their source code ( including mobile phone companies)

LMAO @Wolly's ignorance.

SAD @xbmc Foundation for taking sponsorship money of a company that doesn't even understand opensource licenses.

Since you want to change this topic to a GPL topic, then let's talk about it.
We have no right to open the source code of Allwinner under the agreement, so please give us the detailed evidence to prove that Allwinner violated the GPL.

Just because they didn't open the source code then you call them GPL violator? You're too naive.
GPL is complex, it's not simply YES or NO.
I suggest you to ask the official people of Allwinner for collecting some evidence and then back to here to tell us about your findings.

We have no right to open the source code : True, it is not your "right", you are obligated todo so by copyright law (Oh wait, you are based in China)

it's not simply YES or NO. : Wrong, it is as plain simple like that. YES, if you release a binary based on GPL released sources you are by copyright law obligated to release those sources as well.

I do understand that China does not give a F$ck about GPL and therefor Allwinner is the first in the train of GPL violators. But because of that, you are second in that same train. (Your resellers third, etc)

But by looking at your previous posts about the GPL topic, it is very clearly you have the slightest clue of what is within the GPL2 license.
Thank you j1nx and the others in a similar vein. For a moment I thought i had moved to some parallel universe where Linus had chosen a bsd license or something.

And apparently VidOn still do not know what XBMC/Kodi being under GPL licensed requires from you.

Or worse, you do know and are just ignoring it, and as such are clearly violating the GPL license.

So Hedda, please tell me what is GPL if you think you know it very well.
Thank you very much.
GPL compliance is very simple if you just make it a routine of ALWAYS releasing the source for ALL the binaries of XBMC/Kodi that you post to the public, here and on your site.

GPL compliance mean that when you post a link to a binary version of XBMC/Kodi you must release the source code for that specific binary version when anyone asks.

This goes for any version, no matter if it is your Final release or if it only an RC, Alpha, Beta, or one-off experimental build, (yes even if it is a very minor bug-fix build).

You are not allowed to refuse providing source code for every binary, and you can not claim that you only release source code for final versions and not Beta/Alpha.

Not releasing the source code for EACH released binary, including RC, Alpha, Beta, or one-off experimental builds is violating the GPL, period.

This is not a gray-zone matter that is up for discussion, this is a black and white demand in order not to get reported as a GPL violator. This is clear in the GPL FAQ

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html

Here is a simple practical guide to GPL compliance:

http://www.softwarefreedom.org/resources...guide.html

Please read it!

Honestly I do not care if you don't understand it, I just demand that you release the source code as per the GPL requirements, even if you don't understand why.

All others here understand why, and XBMC/Kodi developers understand why, and that should be enough for you to respect.

Thank you, but I didn't see the A31s in the list.
A31 and A31s uses the same kernel code, both use the same sun8i core, so in this case A31 = A31s. See http://linux-sunxi.org/Allwinner_SoC_Fam...eme_change.

I agree that this is not the right forum for discussing VidOn violating the GPL as far as the Linux kernel goes, as I think that we should only discussion violations to XBMC/Kodi here.

Off-topic: On top of you clearly violating the GPL when it comes to the XBMC/Kodi source code, you are also not following XBMC/Kodi trademark guidelines either

http://kodi.wiki/view/XBMC:Trademark_Policy_FAQ

That is, you are not allowed to call your version of XBMC "VidOn XBMC" because your products can not contain the name "XBMC" or name name "Kodi".

Nor may you use a different revision versioning of your releases such as "XBMC 0.0.0.5" because it can confuse users.

I am using the latest XBMC. It doesn't mater how the info display ist activated (quartz skin or Yatse remote or Original Xbmc remote for android phone) it always show the same content. In case of ISO or BD folder structure the codecs are not shown. Possibly you are using MKV where this is possible.

Fps is going up and down between 22 and 31 but this depends on the movie. Sometimes it is just between 29 and 31 fps. But also in this case I can see the flipbook or stuttering effect due to speed up and speed down. Sometimes I have just a few dropped frames and sometimes like in the example of my last post which was a VC-1/TrueHD movie.

I think that the output fps must be nearly constant at 29.970 fps to solve the problem.

Can you please try the Judder Test BD which I linked in one of my posts to test the 29.97 fps problem?
I didnt test bd iso , so i can answer that ( dont have bd concerts )
My test was playing mkv files
I will check with the judder test iso

, about the sources , vidon shows as sun6i
I think this thread should be related to issue and improvement about the VidOn box not GPL violation.
It will be nice to open a separate thread talking about Device that are violating the GPL .

Thanks!

Than ask to change the topic title to; "Android - Latest VidOn Box, technicall issues and improvement" (But don't think Wolly want to see all his "vidon" google ranking efforts of the last few weeks go in vain to have google pointing to an "issues and improvement" thread)

Because my "impression" about the Android - Latest VidOn Box, is that it is made by a company violating GPL

I agree with you about them violating GPL, but this thread is not a place to talk about it,

MEANING of 'IMPRESSION" has nothing to do with Violation.

That depends...
Have to agree with movie78 on this. I understand you're trying to call out Wolly and VidOn on GPL, but I feel this should be something Ned or other Kodi foundation members take up with them offline. I don't think Kodi team needs to worry about retaining VidOn as a sponsor (if that's even a concern) as perceived Kodi stamp of approval is benefiting VidOn more (potential buyers).

Think about it hdmkv. There are obviously problems with these boxes. Don't you think some of the problems may be related to the kernel?
