It looks like people opinion has change on the VidOn box since the Himedia Q5...
The membership fee is a disaster, membership on Android TV box which get obsolete after a year.
This Android Boxes are getting better and better, and there is always a new one on the corner with better processor and video playback...

Agree. VidOn no longer has a monopoly on the functionality we want. Android is getting better, closer to that ideal all-in-one box we want. I hope we'll see one before too long that has Lollipop 5.0 (real Android TV interface) with proper 23.976 and MPEG2 support. Just build upon 3D + HD audio that we already have. Re: 23.976, Minix and WeTek I believe already support it under Android. Also need auto-framerate switching.

I don't see myself needing the membership, but $1.25/mth for those that want it, doesn't seem like a big deal, especially for a box you can get for $50.

Plaback/passthrough of multichannel audio files e.g. FLAC/APE with higher bitrate e.g. 5.1/192kHz is missing.

i don't think you can even can call it "Vidon.me Kodi". Certainly not with a paid subscription attached. You need to have permission to use the "Kodi" name if you make any alterations.

For me it would be
3d mkv mvc from make mkv.
Passthrough all audio.
Be able to convert them all to 2.0 for just tv playback or 5.1
and of course A nice interface like kodi.
The one platform that looks most promising right now it the Nvidia Shield console.

Agree w/nickr & movie78 above, but simply saying "quad core" CPU isn't enough. Based on what I've read, Allwinner (even the new generation) seems to come up short. The Hisilicon chip HiMedia is using in Q5 is noticeably faster than what VidOn is using, but we need an even faster CPU.
Oh, one more thing, no subscription or membership. Price the box itself higher to own outright.
