As more and more youtube videos are vp9 encoded, I try some files on rpi2. and even sd format can't be decoded correctly.
My question : Is the vp9 decoder ( openelec official build or this testbuilds ) the built-in ffmpeg decoder or libvpx decoder ?
Because I think that for ARM the libvpx version should be faster than the ffmpeg version.

Is the experimental mvc player expected to break not mvc files? Only, non-3D blu-ray rips that worked before (full blu-ray backups as BDMV folder) still play, but there's no navigation working during playback (either omx or mmal) like there was previously. Play, Pause and Stop work, but Forward Back don't and the on-screen menu doesn't appear when you try to navigate.
Additionally, HD audio blasts white-noise like sound over the audio output during playback when mmal is used (HD audio decode is fine using omxplayer). This is only on the full blu-ray rip folder playback. 1080p h264 and mvc mkv files playback fine with full navigation.

Just checking... VC-1 29.970 1080i not playing properly is a known issue right? I get a green-pixellated mess. VC-1 23.976 1080p plays fine.

Which build is the first with this behaviour, it doesn't look like #0403 has anything relevant (of course, it could be ffmpeg 2.6.1)
I've noticed an audio-sync issue with my VC-1/1080p/TrueHD MKV Blade Runner movie in #0403 using dvdplayer downmixed to 2.1, several dropped/skipped frames - just going back through the builds to identify when this started. Edit: Haven't been able to reproduce this problem, not even in #0403, so maybe a one-off (hopefully).

I found a (very short) VC1 interlaced sample that might be demonstrating the same problem:
Download "VC1_interlaced_1080i60_with_artifacts_crashes.mkv" from http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/V-codecs/WVC1
On the Pi2 with #0403 I see the green squares/pixelation, however this same video plays normally in VLC on Windows.
Can you test and confirm this is the same problem, otherwise you may need to upload a short sample.

There is an outstanding interlaced VC-1 bug report somewhere (github?).
deborah_c has a sample but we wanted to sort MVC ISO playback first.
It will be investigated after that.
I'm away for the weekend, so can't do much at moment, but I'm aware there are a few issues to look into when back (e.g. interlaced stalls and audio sync).

The last couple of builds that I've tried are doing something that is freaking out my Onkyo. At random times, the receiver is acting like the incoming video signal is changing refresh rates or something. It blacks out, then clicks and finally the video and audio comes back on. It always says that it's 60Hz 1920x1080 It's doing it every few seconds on live TV that has a 1080i signal. It doesn't matter what player that I'm using. I noticed it in the 331 build, and with the 403 build its gotten to be completely intolerable with certain channels that definitely have a good signal. It doesn't seem to matter what options that I have enabled (adjust display refresh rate to match video or sync playback to display). It seems that any combination makes no difference.
It seems to be worse on 1080i live TV. 720P live TV seems to be ok in a quick test. My wife says that she saw it with a MeTV (640x480) recording as well using the 330 build. I also tried setting the GUI to 59.94 but that didn't seem to help either. It did seem to be worse with the GUI on screen
Since I've had other things going lately, I haven't stepped through all the builds, so I can't tell you exactly when it appeared. I went from 320 to 331 then to 403. It was definitely fine in 320 FWIW. The Onkyo automatically upscales everything it receives to 1080p. I'm working on figuring out how to turn that off to see if it helps at all, but I suspect it isn't going to matter. When I can see the picture, the DISPLAY feature on the Onkyo shows the incoming signal to be 1080P 60HZ. When it blanks out, my projector also has to resync to the incoming signal, but always shows 1080p 60Hz when it gets synced.
I'm thinking that the Pi output is dropping out for a split second. It only does this when playing TV, never when it's just the gui on the screen. I don't have any videos that I can check it with, other than a bunch of low res TV recordings and they seem ok the vast majority of the time, but my wife said she saw it happen once with one of them. Maybe this all connected to deinterlacing since the 720p TV seems ok?
