This is by no means a comprehensive list... but here are some links to popular forum threads for XBMC hardware:

NOTE: Alternatively you can also check out the wiki which has lots of info on the devices http://kodi.wiki/view/Devices
We don't recommend one hardware device over any other.

In my opinion, a better list would be the devices that are 'supported', and by 'supported' I mean the ones that the dev's are currently using in their own environments, as they will be the most tested and functional devices.

(Yes, supported is a poor choice of wording... my brain is not in full gear to think of another way to put it yet.. Sorry!)

From the WIKI:
Quote:It is highly recommended for users to not make any purchases in anticipation of running XBMC/Kodi on Android without first researching the device you want to buy. Before you do buy, make sure multiple people have verified that it works! If in doubt, do not buy that hardware!

A central place for 'verified' hardware would be good though. For example somewhere in a thread, I have no idea what topic it was except it was under Android support, you posted a comment and a link about a little wireless stick (like the fireTV stick) that you said worked very good (at least I am pretty sure it was you). Since you are a team member, that recommendation holds a little more water than from a regular user. However, trying to find that post is like finding a needle in a haystack.

This guy? http://www.geekbuying.com/item/MK808B-Pl...37068.html

Pretty much any of the M805-based devices seem to be awesome for the price (all of the normal codecs and HEVC? nice). You can also get the ODROID-C1 and it's basically the same thing, but you get more USB ports, ethernet, and IR on the ODROID.

That's the one! Thanks... now to decide if I'm going with that or just a FireTV stick.... I may get one of each and play!

I wouldn't describe the Baytrail NUC as 4th Generation Celeron CPU, it's simply the Baytrail NUC, or the first Generation Baytrail CPU.

Yeh I did wonder that but Intel describes it as 4th generation Atom Processor so I'll keep it that way for now.

It came out about the same time as the Haswell processors so its useful to know the timelines in sequence.

IMHO if this is to be a sticky then the original post need to be sorted after CPU architecture and hardware platform, (and preferably supported OS too), but not manufacturer or brand.

Intel NUC, Chomebox, and Zotac for example all uses x86 CPU architecture and then might have same or different CPU models.

Most other currency listed in the original post uses ARM CPU architecture but chipsets from different manufacturers and models, and some supporting Linux and others Android.

Anyhow, the CPU architecture, hardware platform, and supported operating systems are much too important to know.

Better example of this type of sticky is eskro's list which first looks a users demands, needs, and wants/wishes http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=94199

Like for example if Netflix is a must then that quickly narrows it down, and so does PVR, physicial DVD-Video or Blu-ray Disc media support, and gaming requirements.

How important is price, are you on a clearly limited budget, and so on.

It's the first time i saw this called this way. With 4th Generation i would imply that with 4th Generation Core-I Processors like Haswell,
but this both Product Lines are completely different (Atom vs. Core-i / Gen7 IVB GPU vs Gen8 HSW GPU).
When you want to keep this, i would replace Celeron or add the "Atom" to the Description to be more precise and to separate it more from HSW.

while you're at it, might want to add the 'Haswell (4th Generation CPU)' notation to the ChromeBox as well

Good post OP!

I think the FireTV box needs some consideration. I like it MUCH better than the stick for Kodi use (more CPU for better skins, plus ethernet!). It is on sale now. Out of the difference Chromeboxes I like the Asus one best. It is easy to hack into Openelec mode and the M004U model is fanless with JUST enough CPU power to decode almost anything. The Acer shouldn't even be considered with the whole write-protect screw issue.

Good job!
