WIP Windows DirectX 11 upgrade test thread
I've tested changing the setting as you suggested. Some few quick tests showed that it seemed to have solved the issue.

Thanks, with this its working.

Thats sad, but it would be worse if kodi is not running. I use my HD3650 and HD4200 meanwhile very rarely. So i can life with Software decoding. But if i understand it correct, with Kodi 16 there is only the new DX11 Based Rendering Method available.

AFAIK Kodi is still using DX9 feature level for hardware decoding (DXVA) but through the DX11 API. Issue is that for some reason the AMD drivers don't expose these feature levels, even though the cards support it. I helped in hunting down the bug and tried 4 different drivers (auto detected drivers by Win8.1, 13.1, 13.4 and 13.9) - all only exposed feature level (FL) 10.1,10.0. Then I even did a clean Win8.1 install to be sure that no game messed with drivers etc, and had the very same issues there. So users with legacy AMD cards are unfortunately on a dead end here, unless a proper driver is found by someone.

i guess the reason is, If someone Use D3D10 oder D3D11, he want to use the Higher Feature Levels and not the old D3D9.

it's not a reason it's a laziness. Why other vendors support all feature levels? Because application should decide not a vendor.

AMD ship the older feature levels too, but not with the legacy driver. for the HD5770 the D3D9 Levels are also available. Maybe because its a real D3D11 GPU.

Working fine for me, with Windows 7 64bit and Mobility Radeon HD 3470 with AMD Catalyst Legacy Driver 13.9

"13-9-legacy_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe".

The log indicates it is using DX11 feature level 0x9300.

Debug Log

I haven't had any problems with the DX11 test builds, other than the menus were slower in the earlier builds.

i 'm having issues with GUI text

Seems to happen more clearly/often in windowed mode than full screen. It could suddenly fix itself with resizing the window or switching fulscreen.

I have non dx11-capable Intel GPU which works perfectly on win7/8/10. AMD releases a bad driver for win8 and legacy cards.

Yea, win7 driver works fine. Issue occurs only for Win8 and probably win10

Could someone with a graphics card compatible with HEVC try the sample http://www.elecard.com/assets/files/othe...f_qp27.265 from the Elecard homepage?

I purchased a GTX 960 to replace a GTX 650TI and MPC-HC can play the sample smoothly with hardware acceleration. With Kodi, all I get is the same choppy playback I got with the GTX 650TI.

Here is the debug log.

Question for a Dev, does Kodi come preloaded with either AMD or Nvidia drivers?

NO, you must supply/install the drivers yourself or they are auto installed by Windows itself.

Broadwell i5 nuc with 1080p display. Playback seems fine at first sight, but there is a lot of stuttering and ~300 skipped frames after 2 minutes, but I think that is because of too high framerate for the unit as it is only able to do semi x265 hardware decoding.
