Nice.. Are there some benchmarks/measurements available? Kodi dx9 vs kodi dx11.

Thank you for testing this. Yes it's a know issue. Will be fixed in Kodi 16.x.

Work still in progress. But even when work is completed this is a another huge work to make a comparison. If someone wants to do that, feel free to do.

I guess GUI isn't really interesting to stress-test; only power consumption in some different scenario's (idle, Kodi GUI, visuals, screensaver). Hardware based decoding (D3D11 or DXVA) could be tested by comparing CPU usage and power draw between both, right?

Would that cover what you have in mind?

tested the build from today with amd deinterlacing patch. but deinterlacing didnt work for me (deinterlacing method is greyed out and there is no deinterlascing)

debug log:

Deinterlacing method selected by the driver now. it is normal if it is greyed in OSD setting.

yes, i have seen in debug log that now are different dxva deinterlacing methods available.
but there was definitely no deinterlacing. i can very clearly see this.

I guess you enabled deinterlacing via video menu? So it did not work for you with deinterlacing auto/on?

That's, strange. I have access to legacy AMD hardware now that does not even support D3D11 video. I will check once again at home on Sunday.

yes there is no deinterlacing, i can see this on live-tv picture. yes, i activate this within video menu. i also switched the settings "always on/auto/off" but this makes no difference.

I was asked to submit this by fritsch in the IRC channel. using july 23rd, 2015 test windows build of v15 with directx 11. anytime kodi window loses focus, as soon as you switch, it will completely freeze for 10-15 seconds every time. Attached is pastebin to Debug Log. thanks

I just checked deinterlacing on Radeon HD 6570 and Catalyst 14.12 (Omega) and it worked just fine with both builds (mine and afedchin's vanilla). Debug log is same as yours. I used a local file (I do not use PVR). Judging by the image it looked as VA deinterlacing (definitely not like bob).

Would you please post screenshots from DXVA Checker Processor Device / Direct3D 11 Processor Caps and Rate Conversion Caps tabs?

These are mine:

Might hopefully provide some clues why deinterlacing is not working for you.
