I have a small problem I hope someone can help me with, or point me in the right direction.

I have the following setup:
1) Beelink pocket P1
2) unbranded IR receiver/remote (http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/g/y1...s-l225.jpg)
3) TV
4) Surround set
5) Logitech Harmony Ultimate
6) unrelated stuff

So far I have managed to set up everything ok, however, I want to be able to control Kodi via the remote.
I have installed:
1) TV
2) surround set
3) Microsoft Windows Media Centre SE
4) Microsoft MCE keyboard

I setup MCE keyboard commands on the hard buttons and checked with showkey, but I do not see any recognition and I can not check if the blaster emits the commands. Kodi does not respond at all to programmed MCE commands.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and/or how to resolve this?

Your IR receiver is not a true eHome receiver if those devices do not work. You need to find the manufacturer and model number of the remote you have. In most cases, the buttons presses should match those of other non-eHome receivers designed to control Windows Media Center. You can use the image in this guide as a starting point to match the names of the keys on the remote you have. For example, the Blue, Red, Green and Yellow keys should be similar to the ORTek VRC-1100 shown in the guide. These keypresses can be converted to Kodi commands if you can determine the correct device to use in the Harmony database.

Your image shows a remote and receiver. What happens when you use showkey with the original remote and receiver?

At worst, you may have to purchase another IR receiver. I would recommend one of the models shown in the first post.

I'd try the manufacturer shown in this link. I'm not sure about the model #.

The built-in NUC IR receiver should be able to use MCE Keyboard and Windows Media Center SE.

Hi,

I cant get my Harmony remote to talk to my computer. I use Logitech Smart Control Hub along with the remote that came with it. The hub is connected to my PC via USB.

Under devices I have added my TV and Media Center SE and MCE Keyboard. Ive created an activity which includes all 3 devices so when I press the TV button on the remote it turns on my TV and switches to HDMI 1 *(ive told it that it doesnt need to switch inputs, but it tries to anyway so I dunno)

After adding that activity the TV turns on fine however any PC related commands do not work. Ive tried mapping the buttons individually through buttons --> remote buttons menu but it didnt help. So for example I click my activity (watch tv) press next select the down arrow select SE as the device, click direction down, select both (short and long press) and then click OK. I go into kodi, click the down arrow on the remote and nothing. Ive also tried selecting MCE Keyboard as well however that didnt work either.

Is there something Im missing? Was adding my TV a mistake since the first post doesnt really mention ithowever I would also like to be able to turn my TV on and off.

Also how is the computer communicating with my PC? Through the hub? or does it use the IR Reciever?

This link explains how the Harmony hub communicates with different device types. This link also has some useful info. Ideally as more devices are able to be IP controlled (wi-fi or wired ethernet), Harmony should provide direct support for these devices. IP control is much more robust than IR or bluetooth. Good luck.

Last I checked, wi-fi control of Kodi from remotes such as the Harmony Elite does not yet exist. I am still hopeful this will become possible in the future, as it would encourage me to upgrade. The Official Kodi Remote for iOS has shown how responsive this type of control is compared to IR. Movement of the UI is instantaneous.

I think I am following this procedure correctly. Here are the step I have taken for getting my Harmony Ultimate to work with my PC Kodi.

1. Hooked up my MCE remote via USB to the PC.
2. Made sure that the eHome Remote showed up in my Device Manager under Human Interface Devices.
3. Added a Activity for the Device "MCE Remote".
4. Added the Win + 1 command as Kodi is not "0" POSITION but is "2nd" in line as per the screen shot below.

Whenever I click on the "icon" I renamed "Kodi" and put on the remote "screen" and click on it, the PC shuts down or goes into a sleep mode. So I know that the Harmony Ultimate Remote is communicating with the Computer/PC.

I decided to delete the Activity and start over again to show you what steps I am taking.

I want the PC to start up when I click on the "Kodi" Activity icon and then "Launch" directly into Kodi at start up. I am creating which will be a shortcut on the Harmony Ultimate Remote "screen" on the remote itself. ( I know that there is another way to automatically launch Kodi at start up. There is a utility
to do this out there but I don't know the link off the top of my head, so I would rather try to have my Harmony Ultimate Remote and the Microsoft PC SE device do it for me)

First: Here is a screen shot of my Devices so you know that I am choose the correct ones. (its funny that it names the "Microsoft CE Keyboard" as a "Media Player". I never noticed that until now.

3. You can use both MCE Keyboard and Windows Media Center SE. You don't have to, but the computer will not get confused.

4. The MCE Keyboard and Windows Media Center SE devices do not use any inputs. This is only needs to be set for your TV by selecting the input used by your PC.

The next step involves settings keys on the remote face. I would add the MCE Keyboard device and follow the key layout in this guide.

It is Win + 2. Windows Explorer counts as an item.

Change the device settings for MCE Keyboard. Set it so that it does not have any power on or power off buttons.

You want to adjust the device in the devices section, not activities.
