I download all my subtitle files from www.addic7ed.com, rename it so that it's the same with x265/HEVC video file but with .srt extension. If you don't want to wait, you can download whatever subtitle, rename it to the name of your video and test.

Can you point to the url (on addic7ed.com) of a specific file you have seen a problem with, and I'll download from there.

It's Major Crimes season 4 episode 1.

Please note that my subtitle font setting is arial.ttf, size 22pt, style normal.

There are a few download links on that page - what language/release name did you download?

-OMX player unchecked

-it applies to all online content from add-ons as istream, genesis, phoenix, etc. With the latest 5 builds when I hit play video, it starts the video, but the first movie image remains frozen while I hear the dialogs in the background. If I downgrade to #0725 all works fine. Maybe 0726 or 0727 would also work. I didn't try them. I jumped from #0725 to #0729c, 0730, 0731,0801 and 0802 and had this problem with all 5 newer builds.

Would be useful if you can confirm the exact build that introduced the problem.

#0726 and #0727 work fine, so the problems started with build #0729c and have continued since, in the same manner. I tried with OMX player checked and it's all the same.

English, for version LOL, 908 sequences (ie. with hearing impaired).
After some testing there are few things that i have seen:
- overclocking seems to get extremely sensible in latest builds with lots of instability when used. I have a feeling that previous versions were not so sensible. ATM I have disabled the overclocking and it looks stable so far. It would be nice to have somehow 'safe' overclock settings since the one in config.txt is outdated since there are now more fine tunings available. The point is that actually no overclock is needed when video is playing but i think most people are using overclocking to speed up gui interface. Is it possible to enable overclocking only when no video is playing (just thinking).

- i have also noted that when watching livetv with full screen video enabled the video does never stall (freeze the picture). If I watch it within preview (not full screen) the it often stalls (the video freezes and then i have to pres stop and then play again).
I use a RPi1 with a USB Flirc (it simulates a keyboard) and the AVR remote.
Until #0714 I could shutdown RPi by pressing a button simulating Ctrl-End.
From #0715b when I press the button, Rpi freeze but ssh still works, I can reboot from it.
Reboot and shutdown from the menu with mouse or remote works fine.

Could you confirm this bug?

I tested two versions of the same episode, one encoded myself with external .srt subtitle file and another encoded by PSArips with embedded subtitle, also in .srt format. If you like, you can download the PSA version from the following link.
http://www.keeplinks.eu/p/55768839e54cc

Both versions have similar file size, i.e. similar bitrate, but bitrate shouldn't be an issue.

Set it to this value and reboot, x265/HEVC video with external subtitle file ran into freeze-pixelation-recovery sequence as before. With another x265/HEVC video file (same TV episode) but with embedded subtitle, also exhibit the same problem. However, when I turned the subtitle display off, it plays flawlessly so far (more than 15 minutes).

It seems increase the value of gpu_mem didn't help.

Can you provide an external subtitle file that is known to cause issues?
I did play a hevc file through a few times without issue at weekend, but there ware no subtitles.

The following is link to the same TV episode encoded myself, both x265/HEVC video and English subtitle file.

That's quite strange as the libnfs bump was only minor (basically, the version number) as previous builds had already picked up the earlier commits.

After the next scheduled build I'll upload a debug-enabled build - anyone experiencing crashes may be better off testing with the debug-enabled build.

Same problem I reported a couple of days ago. I am on 0727 and that is working fine. Any build higher starting with 0729c and I cannot play mkv files.

Bootlooping here on RPi2 after dev-updated to #802

Most likely the splashscreen bug. Hopefully PR:7705 will fix it in tonight's build.

Maybe, the splash seems a little short, but it makes it past it to the gui for a split second and I hear half of the CEC connected notification.

Going back to #801, was working. I'll test #803 when it gets pushed

Yep, that's the splashscreen one:
Code:
Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
#0  0x006e99e8 in CGUIWindowSplash::~CGUIWindowSplash() ()

I found leaving it to boot loop a few times eventually came up okay (there is an uninitialised variable which should be zero. If you are lucky you get a zero by chance).
