Hi,
Is there a way I can get Kodi to show video information (for example outline) stored in the nfo-file without using the library?

nope...
as the info from the NFO-files will only be shown if you created a library with them.
show info from nfo without having a library isn't possible.

Thanks for the reply David1977.
Deep down I guess I knew the answer to this question, but I was kinda hoping there would be a way so that I wouldn't have to have a library on every Kodi computer I have.
Alternatively wouldn't have to rely on one computer storing this information using mysql or UPnP.
Oh well, Kodi is still my favorite media sw.
