Hi I bought this device for my mother and I am going to set it up for her using teamviwer remote app. I used to own a generic android box and my favourite skin Arctic Zephyr wasn't good enough and it would lag constantly on the box. Does anybody know if Artic Zephyr skin runs smoothly on this box, without any lag?

I can confirm that Artic Zephyr works great on the Core. I suggest using either the WeTek Media Player or SPMC forks of Kodi though.

Changelog:

* Fixed the issues with some HEVC videos that were causing pixellation.
* Add "Simulated Wi-Fi".
* Automatic refresh rate matching the FPS of the video that is being played.
* Removed “soft reboot” that was causing connectivity issues (like the old uboot with suspension).
* Updated the prebuilts.
* Cosmetic changes to the launcher plus the possibility of launching apps using the leanback intent by long pressing the app drawer.
* Enhancements to avoid some possible crash under certain circumstances.
* Various fixes in Android and Kernel.

On the update, i advise to disconnect the HDD's.

After installing, i always recommend a reboot on WeTek Core.

Great news. Does this update do anything to rectify the HD audio issues with the amlogic decoder? Can't watch any HD live TV with only the amlogic decoder selected in Kodi as it buffers constantly.

Only way around for me is to enable the Mediacodec decoders, but IMO the amlogic decoder picture looks nicer.

there is any issue with amlcodec and audio passthrough, it's how I use it daily (using the modified/fork WeTek Media Player, or Kodi 17)

By hitting 'o' on my keyboard. For Kodi, that displays the actual codec information currently being used. Do it during Live TV and you'll see what the incoming stream is and what Kodi is doing with it.

Its a false error as Kodi uses Bypass Rendering when displaying video with AMLogic devices and has no hope of counting frames properly.
If you use WeTek Media Player or certain version of OpenELEC this false error has been patched out:

I will do an update of new features in OTA WeTek OS 1.2 shortly for Page #1 of this thread.
Some OpenELEC features and fixes will be added when my compiler finishes as well.

The one cool thing I really like is the ability to launch Android TV leanback compatible Apps for Android 5.1.1 by just Long Pressing on the Apps drawer.
Spoofing WiFi sure comes in handy as well for badly written Apps when you are Ethernet connected only.

I would imagine all these new features in OTA OS 1.2 will be in the WeTek Hub, Play2S products as well.

Pretty happy with this OpenELEC 7.0.0 Jarvis 16.1 bug fix release for the Core:

Went Cherry Picking a few commits from Sam N (OSMC), MrMC and Koying and plugged in some nice additions and fixes.

Plus:

• Backported the PVR EPG search bug fix from Krypton.
  
• Tweaked Codesnake's 4K resolutions patch to allow for smpte24hz displayed on a 3840 screen width.
  
• SSH password changed to "ol". I was sick to death of typing openelec !
  
• Did some Video Axis arithmetic coding so you can run the Kodi GUI in 1080p @ 50/60Hz and play 2160p video @ up to 30Hz. OE. auto refresh switches and scales the video to fit the entire TV screen now, not just the top left corner.
  
• Added some hardware / software video acceleration options for mpeg2 and mpeg4 for flexibility with Interlaced mpeg2 TV mkv's and old xVid clips.
  
• and the much wanted YADIFx2 full motion software deinterlacing for 480/576i mpeg2 DVD's or broadcast SD only TV. Very nice indeed.

Discoveries:

• Playback of decent quality low bitrate 720p 10bit HEVC is possible via Software decoding when amcodec is switched off.
  
• Channel changes for broadcast mpeg2 576i TV are quicker with mpeg2 set to 720p and up in the video options. Let YADIFx2 handle deinterlacing.
  
• I could swear the Octa Core GPU in the S812, results in a slightly faster Kodi GUI with OpenELEC on the Core vs the Penta Core GPU in the S905.

Feedback for Codesnake...
Looking a LOT better than the last test version DroidELEC. No more stutters when viewing 25/50fps mpeg2/H264 Live TV anymore.

Briefly tested H264, H265 and all passed startup and playback.

However with the fractional FPS test files I have there is a bad video judder around the 41 second mark indicating 23.976fps (96000/4004) video is not using AML Frame Rate Automation Policy 1.

This is confirmed in the Kernel Log, I'm NOT seeing this:

As leaving it up to the Hardware decoder and Hardware deinterlacing still results in stuttering playback. The good news is if amcodec is disabled Full Motion Software deinterlacing is the result with smooth video playback.

little odd, hw decode should never be enabled for dvd playback. if fact there is a check a few lines up that checks for this very thing. Did that check fail ? why ?
