ODROID C2 S905 2GB RAM HDMI 2.0 $46
I'm running the latest build and I've noticed a lot of this in dmesg output. Is this normal?

and lots more They seem to come in bursts. It doesn't seem like anything is overheating, but I'm wondering why all these shutdown and reboots of CPUs.

I am having issues with VC-1 content on 7.1.1 (e.g., The Dark Knight blu-ray). Lots of stuttering, audio and video not synced. When I turn off hardware acceleration, the audio/video sync issues go away but then it stutters like crazy (presumably because the CPU can't handle it). Anyone else have this problem.

This will not be fixed for LE Kodi Jarvis as we have taken VC-1 patching as far as possible.

Video sync playback results using @raybuntu's LE Krypton test releases that contain @peak3d patches, are showing superior playback performance across a variety of codecs with AML LE devices.

If it were me, now would be the time to switch over to using LE Krypton and I would use @raybuntu's releases. They are very nearly what we be in the final Krypton distribution anyway.

@wrxtasy, any idea about those CPU shutdowns and reboots? Or is that normal? I couldn't find anything with Google. It just seems odd that they would shutdown and then restart about one second later. Those -1000 temps and hot:1 seem strange. Maybe a missing patch in the kernel?

Its just the CPU thermal routines getting a bit carried away and predicting possible Hot values a bit too aggressively. The is lag (hysteresis) present in these routines which then Spam's the Kernel log.

The CPU Temp values shown do not seem to correspond to what I actually read using other means as well due to the lag.

We have not gotten around to patching it up for the new Kernel yet (was patched in HK's original Kernel). It seems to not affect anything from my observations.

I didn't look at the clock speed and I can't check right niw, are you clocking it faster than 1.5ghz?

While I have your attention, the ortek(?) Remote I'm using seems to get stuck on a button down loop sometimes, even though it's not being held down. Clicking it again seems to straighten it out, but the wife gets all in a tizzy over it. I don't think it's a line of sight problem, but who knows. I'm not sure if the remote actually sends button up codes, or if the LIRC module is just wigging out.

Edit:. It is an ortek vrc-1100. I really like that remote. For the money, it's been really good. I'm using the USB dongle that came with it as the built in receiver doesn't seem to see the remote. I don't know if that's because of the blue case covering the built in receiver or what. Think that could be my problem?

I will give that a shot, thanks for the help!

Default is now 1.680GHz, for all Jarvis / Krypton releases.
Personally I'm not going to be spending time trouble shooting this when we already have a Thermally stable platform.

I would start by Blacklisting the C2's built in IR receiver to rule out any IR receiver interference:
Code:
echo "blacklist meson_ir" > /storage/.config/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

IR signals work fine with the Blue Case.

Ultimately you may just have to use the C2's onboard IR and custom program the Ortek using Lirc.
There is a Mini Tutorial for Lirc programming HERE

Maybe the fact it is in a cupboard means it overheats. It is summer here.

Well, there's no problem with temperatures here at the opposite side, it's been nearly -30C outside lately, and inside it's solid 22C. Big Grin

I guess pulling the plug causes this problem with bluetooth. I have to test if bluetooth works immediately after normal shutdown and reboot.

for 1080p x265 10 bit which is smoother? this or play 2?

Both will be exactly the same when playing back 1080p HEVC (H265) 10bit.

The C2 will be slightly quicker day to day as it can be stably Overclocked a wee bit, due to its large HeatSink and LibreELEC can easily be used from Fast eMMC Flash Storage. micro SDHC Storage is relatively & noticeably slower.

The Key is buying a Wireless remote control, for 100% certain button presses and no Line of Sight Infra Red signal problems. It really makes a difference to the remote > GUI response times and smooth day to day operation of media player devices.

none of the other odroids are any good for xbmc?

I believe the driver support is just not as comprehensive for LE Kodi on the other ODROID's.

There is also far far better LibreELEC developer support for the AML S905's. That is the most important factor overriding all else.

im just tossing a coin the c2 or the play 2
