v17 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 17.0)
(2016-05-23, 00:34)smitopher Wrote: I have a NUC5PPYH with the Brasswell Pentium N3700 processor. I put it in Akasa fanless case.

I have a habit of feeling it to see if the fanless case is doing the job.

While running LE 7.0, when idle, it is barely above cold. After watching a 2 hour movie just warm.

Running build 518,

It gets very warm while idle and borderline hot while viewing a movie.

When debug mode is on, and idle, it reports the CPU as very busy, of 50% average of all cores.

I surmise that there are still race conditions in the Kernel when running on Brasswell.
Nobody can help you without a Debug Log. But yeah, if you want speculations. Here is another one: Stop intrusive scripts while watching videos :-)
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

This is absolutely of no help.

(2016-05-23, 10:26)aesthetiker Wrote: Tried to uninstall pvr.hts reconfigure etc no changes to this behavior.

The add-on is built-in, trying to uninstall it won't work.

If you want a fix you'll need to determine when the problem starts (ie. identify the first build with the problem).

With ref to this 100% CPU and Nvidia issues mentioned a few weeks ago:

I also have issues with my Nvidia system (ASrock V3D - i3M 370 / GT425M), too. I tested kodi17 build #0522 upfront finally downgrading to 13.2. Don't know if this is of much help, but anyway, here is what I have

Issues were:
- CPU 100% > during playback
- kodi crash during idle in main menu ..
- kodi crash during video playback (HD PVR and mkv)
- kodi logs did not show anything interesting
- I did experience this on this nvidia system w/ 16.1, too (w/ OE 7b3 and LE 7.01). The NUC system I have does not behave like this and runs smoothly w/ 16.1

dmesg showed this:

both segfaults during video playback (HD channels w/ vdr backend)

1534 ff. kodi idle in main menu. the following during navigation to play some video files ..

2217 At least I'd start a video ...CPU ~115% with at least one cpu core (jumping between them) at 100%

3500 ff. The final reboot loop happened after I stopped a x264 video playback for ~15 minutes and getting back to main menu. There were 5 reboots after I was 'save' in main menu again.

3567 ff. during idle in main menu

The latst crashlog:

Besides, in case this doesn't provide any significant input. Kryton looks and feels good! I think I need to prepare an usb drive to test krypton on the nvidia system without reinstall .. now going to restore my 13.2 backups; wife is back from vacation.
Milhouse or fritsch any chance you guys could look into my dropped frames issue? I found that #0411 is last build that does not have frames dropped problem and choppy playback. I have all video settings set as recommended in fritsch's thread. I have this install on nuc hsw if that helps to clarify things.

Here is debug for Build #0522. : debug

I guess this is the same problem affecting both the legacy and non-legacy Nvidia driver.

The OE7/LE7 builds (Kodi 16.1) and these 17.0 test builds all use the same 352.79 Nvidia driver, and something in Kodi clearly triggers a fault.

Again this would be one for Fernet, I think, but it's a new one on me - I've never seen this before (maybe we don't have enough Nvidia 352.79 users/testers).

MythTv PVR
HDHomerun
Amazon Prime https://github.com/liberty-developer/plu...me_instant
Weather Underground.

Which one is intrusive?

I'll generate a debug log if it is helpful to identify what is making the cpu work so hard.

Hi guys, even the restore to 13.2 surprised me after ~ 20 minutes running. I now think it's possible the Nvidia box has a HW problem - memory may be. Sorry for any hasty conclusion from my side with regard to the nvidia system. Please use some grains of salt regarding these crashed. Need to run a few test and let's see.
Hi,

as this 100% CPU issue is affecting all Nvidia - Kodi 17 setups, Ubuntu, Arch, LibreElec, I did some tests with

other Nvidia driver revisions, 364.19, 361.42, ..., 358.16, 352.63, same result,

there must be some Kodi 17/VideoPlayer -> Nvidia issue.

Shall I link this thread to Mentas VideoPlayer development thread here or to FernetMenta/XBMC on Github?

I discovered, running Kodi windowed reduces the CPU consumption by rough 40%,

I use this temporary fix on my Ubuntu living room box,

@Milhouse is it possible to activate the windowed mode on LibreElec?

I think is was possible on OpenElec, but the option seems to be gone.
We removed an nvidia only hack lately, that would force VSYNC in a special way on these setups. But you should also have this high load in the menus without any video playing - is this correct?

The last OE version based on Kodi 13.2 is OE 4.2 using the 340.32 nvidia driver.

Are you saying you have the same nvidia invalid opcode bug with the 340.32 driver? Or did you just restore your 13.2 settings on top of a build (OE/LE 7, #0522) with the 352.79 driver?

@lazyman can you test the next build (#0523) and report if it fixes the crashes, or causes any new problems. Thanks.

True windowed mode won't be enabled, but you can toggle fullscreen if you map the "FullScreen" action (on my MCE/Ortek-VRC1100 remote, this is mapped to the * [asterisk]) keypad button by default).

I'm only seeing high load (one CPU at 100%) during video playback. While navigating the Estuary GUI the CPU load is low/normal, definitely no high load.
