Are there any news or indications already besides this thread maybe, or something I missed? It's quite annoying and a showstopper tbh.
Nothing I've heard of, except some people over LE forums confirming the issue for the NUC7C/P series.

Best option is still something @HiassofT suggested a few weeks ago: File a bug report with some major distro (e.g., Ubuntu), so that they can/will hopefully fix it and LE guys can then backport/merge it.

Did anyone test with 4.18-rc1 #0627x? No idea if it's fixed, but worth verifying. Unfortunately we currently have no clue what is causing this issue, so we can only hope someone else finds and fixes it.

Alternatively use a cheap IR dongle (link is for illustration purposes only) as the Ortek VRC-1100 works very well (far better and more responsive than the built-in Intel CIR, to be honest, and works fine with Harmony).
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

I have sound cuts with build from version #0609 on my Intel NUC7I3BNH and my Sony STR-DN1080,
I tried builds #0622 and #0629, with same results : very annoying sound cuts

on build #0608 I don't have sound cuts at all.

LiveTV, recording or normal video file? If LiveTV, what pvr addon?
normal video files, mkv with AC3, DTS-HD or Dolby Atmos tracks

Thanks for the hint, @Milhouse. Same story though - CIR fails after a couple of key presses.

BTW, to me it appears that the time CIR remains to work is related to the key press frequency, i.e., the more time I leave between individual key presses, the longer it remains to function...
Do you have a bug at the kernel bugtracker filed for that?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Edit: No crash here, also no error in log, but screen is entirely black in that method. Same btw. for BOB which takes the same path (sse4 copy + gl render).

Sorry for asking but is this pr a new fix wich will be merged for tonights build?
You will see in the changelog for tomorrow as always.

I haven't. I'm not entirely convinced yet that this is (only) a kernel related problem. CIR works perfectly fine in the LE installer, which should be based on the kernel as well, right?

And frankly, after spending multiple hours on testing already, I'm not willing to invest any additional time on bug reports and testing for an issue that can be solved by a $10 investment for an USB CIR receiver. No offense meant; when I have the choice between spending spare time with my HTPC or my family, I will always opt for the latter...
Granted. Let's hope a kodi / LE developer thinks differently ...

I just installed #706 and same behaviour.

Time to post a debug log (wiki).

If we can reproduce...

Edit: Skylake NUC6i5SYH with built-in RC6 CIR is working perfectly for me (latest #0706).

Let me know if there's any other info I can provide.

#0703b worked and i did notice some minor visual slowness/stutter on certain encodes.
#0703c no stutter. audio issues on AAC encodes.
#0703d and #0703e both worked without any issues.

Thanks again. One last request - in order to try and understand the reported audio issues, would it be possible for you both to re-test #0703c with debug logging enabled, then reproduce the audio issues and upload your debug log?

Sorry to nag, but is it possible to get these debug logs of #0703c which show the audio issues?

sorry for the delay. after reinstalling so many versions, i can’t seem to reproduce the issue on #0703c (that or it’s so minimal that i can’t even tell it’s happening anymore)
one new thing i noticed while testing these builds, and i apologize if this isn’t the place to post about this bug, is that in the addons section under “Categories,” the “Install from zip file” button doesn’t do anything.
