I'm running Kodi on a Windows 7 machine latest version of Kodi 17.1

My music album is large mainly made up of MP3 files and a few albums in FLAC

I have been trying to rate my music so I can create some smart playlists,

Files encoded in MP3 the ratings work perfectly
But when encoded in FLAC no rating appears in Kodi

I have been using musicbrainz to scan and tag the initial album information and then mp3tag to change the ratings of the individual tracks

Could someone please help with this it's driving me crazy. My favourite albums are stored in FLAC and I can't rate them

You are probably being caught out by the fact that while mp3 file ratings are stored 0 to 255 (although the tagging software may hide that and convert the score from out of 5), the RATING tag in FLAC files is taken as 0 to 100.

So say you set RATING = 4, that is seen as 4/100 and then rounded to 0 out of 10. So try setting some bigger numbers and see if that works.
