So is there a a way to create a single stream DV file from UHD blu ray?

Thanks.

Not available to mere mortals. (There may be some high-end proprietary Dolby mastering software that allows for this - but there's nothing available to general Kodi users)
So how are Apple TV users re-muxing their streams to be able to playback in DV?
I don't believe they are - where are you seeing reports that DV UHD Blu-rays are playing on Apple TV 4K?  AIUI The Apple TV is playing single stream DV back - but not dual stream. (There is no commercial reason for the ATV 4K to play back dual stream content as all streaming services will be single stream)

HOWEVER - https://mrmc.tv/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15...1&start=40 seems to suggest that https://github.com/DolbyLaboratories/dlb...master/bin may allow you to do something clever...

https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments...x/e75t9oa/ was the source (the --progress seems to be a red herring and should be omitted)

There is some discussion in the reddit though as this looks to be a remux not a profile change - so it may not be doing what people think it is. (i.e. not changing a dual stream to a single stream and instead just muxing the base and enhancement dual stream layers into an MP4)

https://www.dolby.com/us/en/technologies...levels.pdf  has more information.

There are LG demo transport streams in different DV flavours in the wild.

The first one has dvhe.05.09 - which means Profile 05 (single base layer 10-bit HEVC)

Does the current Kodi 18 arm64 nightly support the Fire TV 4k Stick or do i need to still use the arm32 one?

Plus: Where do I find the kodi 18 nightly release notes? I know that milhouse does a great job with the Openelec Raspi one but I wasn't able to find a similar forum thread for the android kodi 18 nightly tree.

And last but not least: Is it possible to update kodi nightly on the fire tv automatically?

Thanks in advance Smile
Can anyone shed some light in the dark regarding my questions? Would be great.

Only 32 bit version. Daily commits could be found here: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commits. Don't think autoupdates are possible on a TV stick...

Does anyone have problems with playback of of high profile mkv files? I got some 1080i@50fps that would not play properly due to interlacing, so I re-encoded them as 1080p@25fps high@L4 and they still crashing Kodi... (ps both files are ok on second generation TV stick though, still with no deinterlacing ).

High bitrate MBAFF h.264 1080i25 (aka 1080/50i) Blu-rays replay OK but with no decent deinterlacing (so 1080p25 originated content is OK, 1080i25 looks terrible).  Separate-field encoded interlaced h.264 stuff falls over entirely.  (There are at least 3 flavours of h.264 interlaced - separate field, PAFF and MBAFF)

MBAFF 1080i25/1080p25 switching Live TV (aka Freeview HD) doesn't play reliably.

New firmware out: v6.2.5.8

I can't see the new firmware. What are the changes?

Yeah, I can't see it on my device as well, maybe it's a rolling update, some will get it later than others

I was able to get the FW update just now :-)

I'm having some general issues with Kodi Leia RC2 though.  Here are the tests I've performed this evening.

Fire TV stick plugged into Denon Receiver 4K input.

General GUI :
TV displays 3840x2160 60Hz

Amazon Prime :
Playing Grand Tour 1080p version.  TV reports 3840x2160 @ 25Hz.
Playing Grand Tour UHD stream, TV shows 3840x2160 24Hz HDR10.  Looks great.

iPlayer :
I can watch Dynasties in UHD.  TV reports 2840x2160 60Hz HDR HLG (but colours are dull).

Smart YouTube TV :
Watching a 4K 30fps video, TV reports 3840x2160 60Hz.  Looks good, but frame rate incorrect on TV.
Watching a 4K 60fps HDR video, TV reports 3840x2160 60Hz HDR10.  Looks great.

Kodi 18 RC2 :
Settings as per Hitcher's post #99

General GUI res set to 1920x1080.

4K HDR switches to 3840x2160p at 24Hz.  But HDR doesn't work (at least on the 1 file I've used for this test), so colours are muted & dull.
4K non HDR switches to 24Hz.

1080p content - frame rate doesn't change to 24 Hz, sits at 60Hz.
720p content, TV reports 1920x1080p @ 60Hz.

If I add the 1920x1080p formats to the whitelist, 4K content displays as 1920x1080 24Hz (and HDR still doesn't work for HDR title).

Fire TV stick plugged directly into TV
Exact same results as above.

Note that with the Minix U1 I have (CoreElec 8.95.6), resolution & frame rate switching works perfectly.  Just doesn't handle 4K HDR with its basic S905.
If I could get the Fire TV Stick 4K to play nicely with Kodi, I'd be a happy chappy.

Any pointers?  I have read through the entire thread, but of course may have missed a few things.

I'd like to have the Fire TV Stick 4K plugged into the AVR, so I'm going to set it back up like that for now since direct to TV didn't change things.  That takes the AVR out of the equation.  Must be a Kodi / Fire Stick issue.

the 4k Stick works perfectly with my Sony xf9005.hdr 24hz also without issues.
What TV are you using?

Grand Tour S1 was shot 2160/24p - Series 2 onwards was 2160/25p. Series 2 should be output 2160/25p or 2160/50p. 2160/24p is not perfect.

Dynasties UHD on iPlayer is 2160/25p HLG Rec 2020. It should be output 2160/50p Rec 2020 SDR or HLG (HLG is backwards compatible with SDR)

Very few iPlayer platforms apart from Smart TV internal players are correctly signalling HLG...

OK, seems I had a bad HDR file.  I tried another one (HDR10) and it worked as expected.
I've downloaded a couple of other test files.

I can play Jellyfish 140 HDR HEVC, but it doesn't show up as HDR on TV, so does that mean it is being converted to SDR?
What type of HDR is Jellyfish sample?  HLG or HDR10?

HDR10 clips seems to play fine and report correctly.

TV is a Hisense 43AE6100UK.

Are there some specific HLG and HDR10 sample files that can be downloaded for testing?

A further observation is that when the Smart YouTube TV app plays 1080p content, TV still shows 4k resolution.  It seems to switch to appropriate frame rate unless the original rate is 30Hz, in which case the TV displays 60Hz.  Is that because I used the 4K option first time I loaded it?  The 1080p content doesn't look good via that app.

The Grand Tour Seasons 1 & 2 show 24Hz for S1 and 25Hz for S2 via Prime.

Netflix app is also not changing framerate automatically.

30Hz stuff output at 60Hz and 25Hz stuff output at 50Hz is not a major issue. I wouldn't worry unduly about that.  All that should mean is that each frame is output twice via HDMI rather than once.
