2018 - Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
Hi,
i'm happy to see Amazon fixed deinterlacing problem!
So, atm which are the limitations using 4k stick for kodi and other apps (netflix/prime/disney+, etc) ? In what Apple 4k or odroid are superior?

Thanks,
Antony

Apple TV 4K has auto frame rate support for netflix.

I´m very happy with the Fire Tv 4K anyway.

We've been talking about this being fixed since page 73 of this thread. Try actually reading it.

FTV 4k has frame rate matching support only in Amazon Prime Video?
What about color space matching?
About Kodi, HD Audio passthrough is working? What about atmos?
Only these differences with ATV and odroid or other?

Maybe @fritsch o @wrxtasy could you answer more in detail please?

Thank you guys.

@fritsch   I saw there is a new fritschfiretv build  https://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andr...bi-v7a.apk

Is this for the 4k firestick?

Yes, this is what we've been using for some time now.

Sadly for me in conjunction with Tvheadend and German DVB-T the Fire TV 4K is not working reliably. It seems depending on the audio format of a channel there is heavy stuttering and audio delays. Some channels work perfectly smooth. It's the same with latest firitschbuild and latest Kodi Alpha.

fritschfiretv builds are what I have been using also, but I saw what he wrote in the Android forums:

Wait until: https://jenkins.kodi.tv/job/Android-ARM/19324/ is finished and download the apk here: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/arm/ (will have fritschfiretv in its name). Check if you get a DTS-HD Option now and play the file again that you had before. I need a Debug Log of that.

So I wasn't sure he made that for the 4k firesticks or someone else (jenkins) made it for testing that guys problem??

I just wanted to check if some poor guy with broken amlogic android BSP would be able to see DTS-HD with the DTS-HD-MA vs. DTS-HD split that I have in my fritschfiretv version. I found something with the video ref clock (only used if sync playback to display is enabled and most of you don't use cause of your passthrough LED ;-)) and fixed that one top. Let's see ... other than that: rebase on Leia which is not developed anymore.

AppleTV 4K or current gen iPad Pro's are probably the closest analog?

Looks like our 4K stick is not getting an update this year, as I said could be the case. Hopefully our 4K stick will get an update to FireOS 7 when it gets the new FireTV UI.

I think they won't care about the 4K stick anymore. Reason: No one bought the cube ;-) besides you "advanced / expert" user guys, everyone who just wanted netflix / prime with 4K just got the cheap FireTV 4K stick and the Cube ... not. Too expensive for the additional value of average joe.

Yep - I couldn't really see a compelling reason for the Cube.  It felt like a Fire TV Stick 4K + Echo Dot rolled into a single package - but both were compromised?   STB control? Meh...

Has Netflix updated their Fire TV app to support Cinema mode yet?  If so then I still don't see a rival to the Apple TV 4K for streaming - sure it's a LOT more expensive - but what else does frame rate matching for all the major streaming services ? (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ ?)
