Perfect. Same PACKAGE_ID

For all: go with the org.xbmc.sony version :-) - I will post updates after every two / three days. So that you users don't suffer from the Rootkit company.

Great! Thank you fritsch.

And I installed tv-release.apk on my shield tv, it's all OK.
Seems no launcher icon, but can be opened from setting - apps -koditest - open.

 But don't the app has to be recognized as video application by android tv to access hardware decoding and select the right picture mode ?
I think that's why chrisyu chose "com.amazon.aiv.eu"

One question testing the last .apk...

In the Video section inside System Info, it says:
GPU: Mali-G71
Screen Resolution: 1920x1080 at 60Hz - Full screen.

It means that when I play a 4K video, 1080p is the maximum resolution? How can I check the resolution played?

thanks and sorry for the off topic...

Resolution mediacodec opened was 4k. Check with the "info key" of your TV's remote. The UI is rendered in 1080p, that's normal and better for the MALI.

Hi,
As far as I know, it's not about hardware decoding, I think all apps can access hardware decoding.
I choose "com.amazon.aiv.eu" just because it will be recognized as video application, default use cinema profile.
User can choose cinema profile for any app manually.

The second answer is to adjust Android emulator's setting, don't know how to do that with TV.  Blush

I changed android studio sample project's package id from "org.xbmc.kodi" to ""org.xbmc.tvtest", build another apk.

https://app.box.com/s/o7j4v3kiuujzlvjzsm83eyqruo54bxuw

tv-release.apk -> package id "org.xbmc.kodi"
tv-release-org.xbmc.tvtest.apk -> package id "org.xbmc.tvtest"

Test on Z9F TV
tv-release.apk -> cannot install
tv-release-org.xbmc.tvtest.apk -> OK

Test on emulator/shield tv
tv-release.apk -> OK
tv-release-org.xbmc.tvtest.apk -> OK

I think that's clear enough, all the difference is package id.

Good. Then we leave it to Sony - to figure that out. Why Kodi cannot be installed on a factory-resetted device while "kodi if called differently" installs perfectly fine :-)

After the new Sony statement that the "ko" in kodi would make their "Classificator" think that this is a kernel object.

Here is a final test: https://jenkins.kodi.tv/view/Automation/...hoice/195/ <- this one changes PACKAGE_ID to org.rabi.kohl <- which is german for something I don't like to eat :-) (kohlrabi) - so if that one also does not install, their point is proven.

At the end this would mean: Yes, they blocked us and many more "by accident" :-)

Build results here: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/

@chrisyu  if you are faster, you can also test this with your "small" apk
