v18 No more Python 3 builds?
#1
I was looking at this folder today and can't find any python 3 builds?

http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/windows/win64/

Will you re-include them?
>>> [zen for zen in zen_of_python if zen][0] == 'long_live_python_2'
True

I assume there is no script.module.kodi-six in v18 RC builds to import from

   from kodi_six import xbmc, xbmcaddon, xbmcgui, xbmcplugin, xbmcvfs

@Rechi I tried installing KodiSetup-20190305-66746cbe-feature_python3-x64.exe as well as KodiSetup-20190211-da8cd2ee-feature_python3-x64.exe as a portable installation on Windows 8.1 x64 Desktop.
When starting kodi with "-p" option as per instructions, Kodi crashes with the following error

Can you please advise how I can fix this. Thanks

PS: Okay looks like the build work only on Windows 10 and not on Windows 8.1. I tried to compile it from source on my machine and even that only generates Win10 executable. Any chance of a Windows 8.1 executable as it is still a supported OS from Microsoft

@Rechi
Is there any chance that python3 builds will support:
Windows 7 x64
Ubuntu 18 (Bionic)
By chance these are my development platforms but there are no builds currently, that support it.
RPi4; LibreElec

@bkiziuk I think Python 3 support is close to being merged, but some of the big PR's lately appear to be languishing.

I'm not sure whats going on there, but it should be available soon on all platforms.

I would think getting it in as early in the new development cycle as possible would be beneficial from a project management point of view.

Here is the PR for the merge of Python3 into master

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/16116

I think it is getting close.

edit: 20190728-82ed8e1d-PR16116-merge-x64.exe is what is looking for.
These aren’t the droids you’re looking for...
