my directory structure is 

 the shows are subfolders of these folders. if i select the 'tv series' folder as source, 'ongoing' & 'completed' are  treated as shows.

having the tv shows inside the root of your data source is on only prerequisite you need.

my suggestion is: create a data source completed and a data source ongoing
