Stuttering/crashing video playback with network files
#16
I note a web call failure (script.tv.show.next.airedSmile and then this starts. (did you try with the default skin?)

2020-07-02 00:00:02.356 T:4128 WARNING: CRenderManager::WaitForBuffer - timeout waiting for buffer
2020-07-02 00:00:03.224 T:7068 WARNING: Previous line repeats 12 times.
2020-07-02 00:00:03.224 T:7068 WARNING: ActiveAE - large audio sync error: -10093.458388

and then goes on for many more audio sync errors.

Last shot... HOW-TO:Modify the video cache (wiki)

Code:
<advancedsettings>
  <cache>
    <buffermode>1</buffermode>
    <memorysize>139460608</memorysize>
    <readfactor>20</readfactor>
  </cache>
</advancedsettings>

Hi everybody,

Another try, this time as suggested on a portable, full stock install. Experienced stuttering but no crash (network file). Local playback runs fine.

Here is the log: https://paste.kodi.tv/nepikamuhi.kodi

I will try and post questions on the LimeWire/unRaid forum as well - if these issues are solved eventually, it might be helpful for other users Smile

Thanks again for your help and advice!

Did you try modding the video cache as indicated in post #16 ?

Hi again,

I modded the video cache as suggested on my regular install (not the portable one) - playback froze (without stutter) then stopped completely and jumped back to dashboard.

Here is my log: https://paste.kodi.tv/nemaxujemo.kodi

Next i will have to try portable/modded.

Thanks again!

Might be a good idea... and chose some lighter media such as a standard 8 bit h264 encode

"La.La.Land.2016.1080p.10bit.BluRay.8CH.x265.HEVC-PSA.mkv"  with CPU: Intel® Pentium® CPU G860 @ 3.00GHz, 2 cores available might be pushing it.

Of course you might be right, but before i've had so many troubles, i could play just about anything  Undecided

Not 10bit.BluRay.8CH.x265.HEVC with Leia, you might look at the UHD threads or Matrix for that, but it's an old 2 core Pentium.

Hi @PatK , i could get an Intel i5-3470 3.20 GHz Quad Core 6Mb SmartCache for cheap, do you think it would help with my issue?

Why gamble, I don't know what cheap is, but when on a frugal budget and Kodi is the big attraction; The Nvidia Shield seems to have all the characteristics of a nice toy box.

30-ish euro ^^ but i'd rather try and fix/improve on what i have instead of buying new stuff.

In any case, i have another machine that could benefit from the i5 i mentioned so i bought it anyway, installed it and gave it a try yesterday - coincidence or not, i managed to have a smooth and uneventful playback of a feature-length movie. Still need to test it further though.

Might end up with the solve being the hardware?
